Candy Flip were from Stoke, as of course was one particularly irritating member of Take That

Someone also mentioned the Adventure Babies - they were from Stafford I think

The most gruesome Mcr act ever has to be MC Tunes, whom I used to live near in 1990.

Of newer bands, no-one's yet mentioned The Montgolfier Brothers

All these post Madchester bands seem to slip the mind somewhat: there were also the really crap opportunist types like Northside, Paris Angels and Northern Uproar- fookin' terrible the whol lot of 'em, and thankfully now dead and buried.

Delmontes - yep , they were from Manc, as fas as I know - of course the Cool As Fuck Cows were from Failsworth and Oldham, weren't they? Still like their "Trainsurfing,", "Joe" and "Move" singles tho - they've appeared to have stood the test of time.

Clint Boon - now, what is he on, with that "experience" of his??? We seem to be forever bumping into him and Tom Hingley during gigs these days.....

I even have to admit I liked Tom's previous band called Ariel. They had a few nice and catchy dance/pop songs.

Were the Chemicals proper mancs? I don't think they were, didn't they just meet at uni and decided to DJ together? I'm sure they're southernres.......

Anybody remember THE FRESHIES? They were a very-late 70's New Wave Manchester pop-punk outfit. Who can forget that seminal classic "I'm In Love With A Girl At The Manchester Virgin Megastore Checkout". And the follow up "I Can't Get 'Bouncing Babies' By The Teardrop Explodes", the latter, prompting the witty riposte "(I Can't Get) 'ICan't Get "Bouncing Babies" By The Teardrop Explodes' (By The Freshies)".

BTW, Did anybody here know that the Freshies' Lead singer Chris Sievey is now most famous for being FRANK SIDEBOTTOM? (from Timperley, near Altrincham, which is just outside Manchester anyway, a town that is also famous for two further mad bands: MO, LARRY AND CURLY, and THE WALTZING GERRY HATTRICKS.)

I love the Buzzcocks "Singles Going Steady" collection, they're definitely worth checking out. Also love a few of the Scots bands mentioned (Belle and Sebastian, J and M Chain)

I've only heard "The Light Pours Out Of Me", sounds like Howard Devoto felt threatened by Ian and the boys on that one. Otherwise, I dunno...
