A MUSICAL starring JULIE ANDREWS and ROCKET MICK.Based loosely on INDIANA JONES discovering a vast collection of NEW ORDER records in a dump in downtown CHORLEY.A cameo role of MR TONY WILSON seen in ROCKET's garden digging up POWER CORRUPTION and LIES in the MULTICOLOURED format with some bones of MUFFY'S dog.Worth seeing for the numerous WIGS and EMPTY beer cans.Plus if you look closely in the 3 rd scene you can clearly see a BOX OF DRY 201 matches. Then PLANET ROCKET burns down and SHUGZV gets married to DICK VAN DYKE.
Laugh...i nearly got a job!
(the old ones are the BEST...and guys you know i am OLD).
HOW DOES IT FEEL!![]()

Its a documovie - its based fairly tightly around real events, but its been dramatised to a certain level
Its very, very funny though, although the humour is (obviously) British.

...then check out NewOrderStory if you haven't already.
Get it anyway. There's heaps of doumentary/commentary stuff on it plus the Here to Stay filmclip (mind you with the 24hpp New Order).

david attenborough narrates, if that makes you feel any better.
There was a Channel 4 (UK)documentary about Factory transmitted about the same time the film was released. Wasn't it also called 24 Hour Party People?

Laugh? I nearly did some work
Good to see you back to normal ya baldy twat.
As for the original question Mr Spencer, definitely worth getting 24Hr Party People - but as has been suggested, I'd definitely want to watch the Neworder Story first.
Henke 7 was indeed correct - there was an hour long documentary called 24 Hr Party People broadcast on Channel 4. I have it somewhere, still havnae been round ma nans to get all ma videos.
The best part of it is the additional DVD with Hooky & friends giving a commentary. The film itself is fairly crap and includes surprisingly little Joy Division/New Order - if you don't like the Happy Mondays, the last third or so will bore the pants of you...

no additional DVD on the american version!
Just got the VHS for eleven quid in HMV - yes, I still use that archaic format, considering when its dumped into my PC over the tuner its about the same quality as a DivX rip anyway - the method I store everything in.
Had seen it already, although I couldn't remember it too well. Anyone any idea what the budget was? It seems to have been, well, low, considering they didn't close roads/car parks/etc to get rid of the obvious 90's/00's cars around the place (even early on in the movie)
24 HPP is more of a story about Factory Records, and Tony Wilson than being about JD, NO or the HMs, and as such I liked it. Steve Coogan doing Tony Wilson as an ealier version of Alan Partridge is spot on. If you're interested in anecdotal background stuff the extra DVD includes a Peter Saville 'gallery' which has some really boring shots of Peter Saville's work, but a fascinating audio track of him and Tony Wilson trying to reconstruct the history of various covers with often contradictory, sometimes hilarious, and to me, often illuminating results.
