Dying New Order Fan....

Rob how can you say you were cheated, when you say you loved it. Music is all about how it makes you feel.
Americans, I tell you. At least you GET tours. I'd like someone to tell me the last time New Order came to Winnipeg; or Canada at all for that matter. But you know what? They're pumping out the music we all love, so it's really their call isn't it? I would KILL for them to come here, I really would, but whatever. Until they do (I'm sure they may slip Toronto in there), I'm not going to desert everything they've done to make me want to see them live in the first place. That's not a true fan.
C'mon, Elvis and the Beatles have more fans and didn't release anything for years....
And many people do tribute gigs and everything.
So what they didn't tour in the eastern parts of North America last time? Can I remind everybody that the album has been released in the USA just 3 weeks after the world trade center incident??????????????
I think that IS the reason for the lack of promotion in the US then, nobody wanted to take planes.....
But on the other hand, I'm not convinced I would listen to New Order on such a regular basis if NOOL wouldn't exist, that is a fact, but I'd follow the news with the Ceremony Mailing List like I did before...

Bollocks, Vancouver doesn't count! ![]()
I'm 16. I have never seen them live. I have not been a fan long enough to witness the release of a studio album. No one at my school has heard of Factory or Joy Division or New Order. But they are the only band for me.
Originally posted by Rob Revilo C'mon...not the greatest concerts are given by the order..There was a time in 89 or 90; cannot remember the exact date, but during their technique concert I can remember there being several moments on stage when it looked like not a single person was playing an instrument. I love techno music, but I love new order's style of music because they blend the live and sequenced elements together. At that point during the concert, there was not a single person on stage playing a single note, and I remember feeling a little awkward for the band....Then, after a 55 minute set, they were finished. At the time, I loved it and was screaming to the mountaintops about NewOrder and how great they were, but now, in retrospect, they cheated me(us)....
Cheated you?? What do you expect from a synthesized act?

All I can say Rob is that if you feel so cheated, you won't be wasting your hard-earned bucks on seeing them when/if they tour the US next year, will you ? No sense in throwing good money after bad now, is there ?
Or will that be the next gripe, that they didn't play within x miles of a toilet near you ?
Let me just announce that I'll be seeing at least one U.S. gig if they do tour next year (and possibly a Canadian one as well if they play Vancouver again!). YES!! (fingers crossed)
How do you know that they will be touring the United States? Have they said anything about touring North America??
If they do tour, I sure wish they would revive their "barcode" tour shirt. That was absolutely genius!!
IMHO, if it's to release a crap like it was "get lousy", better they release it in 2010... in the other hand, if it is to be a good album, they can take all the time they need, til 2010 too, I will wait.
ya know...there just ain't no pleasing you lot...if they released some massive new single that would go on to take out Blue Monday as the best selling 12" of all time...then toured constantly for two years, I'm convinced you guys would still find something to whine about...

Like, identical set lists every night, Bernard whooping on cue, Bernard cracking yachting jokes, Bernard teaching how to tie a knot...

You mean like Depeche Mode, The Cure, U2, and all the other 'big' bands? Not to mention the 'Limp' Biscuit kind, etc.
At least New Order do it with genuine humour and if they can't be bothered with the chatting and p*ssing about and instead, just play, then great - more of the old days!
let's see: you're upset that they haven't been prolific during the past decade.
neither has my favourite male singer, marvin gaye, on account that he's dead. still listen to him anyway.
