I saw an ad for this in "Uncut" a couple of months ago. Is it any good? and has it been released in Australia yet? i went to my local record shop and it wasn't even listed.

IMO it's worth it for the first 5 tracks: True Faith, Isolation, Touched, Atmosphere, and Paradise that were originally from the 1998 Peel Session broadcast. The True Faith version is the best they've ever done to my ears reworking the Oakenfold + Osborne Perfecto mix into a new song basically. Isolation and Touched are really cool as well.

The second half of the CD drags on a bit, mostly because alot of the material are weaker songs from Get Ready. Slow Jam has a cool intro but decends into the usual "NERNERNERNER" guitar sound and "even-shit-for-Barney" lyrics. Close Range suffers from this murky production as well, guitars way up in the mix, quality way down :( Rock The Sha... Well enough said there, just hit ">|". BUT Your Silent Face is the hidden gem here, a really good version that inadvertantly shows you how the newer songs here can't ever hope to match the earlier stuff. :eek3:

Despite the questionable tracks on the second half, I'd recommend it to any New Order fan really, interesting CD. The "enhanced" part is a Quicktime movie of the band performing Transmission for John Peel's "Music biz" anniversary celebration, pretty standard version, nice to have but nothing to rave about.

Ally.

PS. And no, I'm not a Get Ready "hater", I reckon there are five or six classic tracks on that album :D But did they really have to take the weakest to the Lamacq session with them? An alternate Turn My Way, Crystal, or even Sabotage would've been much more interesting, would they not?

Thanx for your opinion Ally3000. My girlfriend wants this CD for her birthday next month. Now i just have to find out if it has been released in australia, or will i have to get it on import?

Its decent. For the casual NO fan it's not important but Isolation, Touched and TF have been reworked effectively. Only downside is Transmission isn't able to play on regular CD players.

Twill definitely work on yer PC, and it does work on some record players apparently. It's a must have - cos the sound's better than all the bootleg versions that we've had since the sessions were aired:thumb:

I think Old Blue had the link for Transmission.

I can't find it at the moment! I'll regenerate the file and post it later.

It's easy enough to do for yourselves, just use Total Recorder or something similar to capture the audio whilst playing the video...

Y'all should get yourselves a little freeware programme called AudioExtract, which will enable you to rip the audio straight from the mov-file, without having to play it. The freeware version only allows the processing of three files, but even the most retarded among you should be able to pull it off in three go's ;).

Don't forget to set up the programme to convert to wav!! There are several options.

I seem to have the only copy of Sessions bought in a shop in Oz. In my now sadly defunct favourite Record Shop, so no more "rarities in Canberra". Go contact CTB he's in Melbourne. He should be able to help you out.

I was hoping they launch it here, but I guess I'll have to order in US$ :mad2:
