What song in NO's catalogue and/or live repertoire do you think has the best ending?
Personally, my favorite is probably the ending of Blue Monday on their Tops of The Pops performance.

The ending to Subculture Glastonbury '87, which oddly enough wasn't included in the Windsong release.

On record it would be a toss up between Ceremony and The Perfect Kiss. Ceremony slow to fast at the end is magic, and the longer drawn out TPK is also superb.
Live, it has to be several different versions of Temptation, where we hear "Oh it's the last fucking time" and the 1,2,3,4 go mental guitar bit
I really like the way Dream Attack ends. All four band members get involved in a great finish to a great album.
I like the way THIEVES LIKE US slows right down at the end.
SUNRISE and THE PERFECT KISS are great too.
Any song that's not just a fade out gets the thumbs up from me...!!!

I'd have to say TPK has the best ending of any song I've ever heard but I do love Dream Attack's ending a great deal.
Shug has it bang on the money with Temptation live and his reasons are precisely the same as mine. Great call.
Tricky. Either Ceremony (7") or the last 60 seconds or so of (the full version of) TPK. Both are spellbinding.

To me, Senses is some kind of precursor to TPK. I love all those live versions where, during the second half of the song, there is no singing and the four band members work their instruments to create this beautiful noise.

And The Perfect Kiss can't go unnoticed...
New Order does a great job with endings much of the time so for me it's just as hard as picking one favorite song of theirs. I can't seem to do that either. 
"Chosen Time" has a really cool ending, So does "Hurt", so does The "Perfect Kiss" but some of the more recent songs have good endings too like "Primitive Notion" or even "Player in the League."
Dream Attack, though I used to look forward to the end of All Day Long and Every Little Counts as well, as it meant there was a chance we'd get a decent song next.

The first time I heard that the day it came out in 1986, I literally teared up, it was so beautiful an ending to the song AND album.... can still recall watching the needle pick up after the song and was in shock, between the pause and then the keyboards surfing in, and then of course that scary sound there at the VERY end, which nearly had me jump out of my chair listening to an actual turntable... that end does not have the same effect on a cd... but, I don't just mean the last few seconds of Every Second Counts, or is it Every Little Counts, but the entire second half of that song....... brilliant...

Every Little Counts as well, just for the curious looks I know I made when I first heard it as well. I don't have the CD of Brotherhood, vinly only, so I don't know how that translates to a new medium.
A better ending to a song, again on vinyl, is that of Heaven 17 on their first album, Penthouse And Pavement, and their song against the religious right, We're Gonna Live For A Very Long Time. (funny how that song is still applicable). As the final words of the chorus ring out, "For a very long time, for a very long time, for a very long time," etc, the music and vocals STOP, and the needle IMMEDIATELY is lifted from the record, a nice little token of the views of H17.
the best ending of any live song is World in Motion...just so ShugzV would quit slagging it off!!!

Favourite ending would have to be TPK as many other folk have been saying. Weirdest ending would have to go to "Don't do it" off the Fine Time single... was bored one day so put the ending through Cool Edit :D and reversed it, turns out to be an unflattering comment about someone's mother :P

Hmmm...I've never ever heard "Don't Do It" before, I don't think. Can anyone help me out with this? (By the way, I sure as hell am not going to buy the Fine Time single for it! :barf: )
