*Doesn't clash with a major artist release.
The release date of Get Ready clashed with FOUR other major releases.....Bjork's greatest hits, The Strokes, Slipknot and another one I can't remember. I do clearly remember walking into HMV to be confronted by their new release rack and having to search for Get Ready.
The HMV (a rather large one where i live ) where I got my copy of Get Ready really pushed it. They were playing the album in the store and had a fair spot for it on the new release shelf. Mind you, I do recall the in-store charting having Get Ready in the top ten. Just a little promo can go a long way.
It might also help if New Order put their name on the cover of the album. These days, most people are going to pass it by if they don't see who it is. For example, the average person sees on a shelf " System of a down ", "Linkin Part Remixes", " Moby ", " (some up and comming indy group) " and then an album with a picture of a lady and a red line on it. Unless you bother looking at everything or know the album is out already, chances are you wont even sample it. The cover of Get Ready looked like a chillout techno cd anyway.
Point being, advertising by shops and radios AS WELL as decent marketing from New Order should help the sales along greatly. Because we know the music isnt the problem :D
