Hello everyone,

As you might know, NewOrderOnline.com is a website that exists only because of the kindness of its members. The site would be closed since 2002 if it wasn't because of that.

In fact, contributors helped paying the hosting fees of this server since the last 3 years, and it's the only way we can make this work.

As you also know, we switched host recently, so I had to pay a full year + renew domain and everything, so I'm now asking who wants to contribute to this full year of NewOrderOnline. As you know, I give time for this website, but I don't want to invest money in it as I'm already putting time that I should put somewhere else ;)

We are hosted at WebHost4Life now, you can check yourselves if you want to see how much it is, but I paid 259.35$ USD for the full year ahead of us, and a few dollars for the domain hosting.

So you got it, I'm launching the donation time of the year to be able to raise 260$! I hope we can reach this, so far in the past I managed to get lower fees that this, but obviously, NewOrderOnline is getting more and more popular, so...

How does that work? Well, best way is to click the below button:

Send a donation...

This is, of course, for people having PayPal accounts or that CAN have one, some people sent me money off the mail.

What happens to you next? Well, not much actually, you'll become a "Salvation Member", your name will be listed in the "about us" page of this website.. I originally wanted to give all those people a @neworderonline.com email, but the problem is, since we had to switch host too many times, datas got screwed and it's not a sure thing you'd keep it, so it's not really worth it. But I think that if you like this website, and use it, even if you send only 1$, it'll be appreciated, and the money will be put to good use.

So, is that speech good enough? , seriously though, this is probably our last shot at traditionnal web hosting.. if we get bumped again, we won't have a choice but to use a dedicated server, so far I've been very satisfied with this new host, if you ever want to use that host, let me know, their referral system is also giving us donations, so it might be useful as well.

Thank you very much for reading.

A MODEST PROPOSAL

Every year with discomfiting regularity (not because of the money but because it depressingly punctuates the rapid succesion of the years) we are asked to contribute towards the maintenace costs of NOOL. I do that gladly but I reckon it could be a good idea to give it some sort of permanence.

Nicos, have you thought about going public? I am not suggesting that you list NOOL in the NASDAQ (we all know who would snap up then all the shares, do we not? ;) )

My idea is that, you could issue some kind of shares whereby some of us could be owners of a part of NOOL. You and Sebastien (I do not know how is the ownership divided between you both) could retain ownership of the 51% and the rest be offered to those Old Hands willing to share in the venture. That way it could be possible to raise enough money to have a dedicated server and the long term survival of NOOL would be guaranteed.

Being a Salvation Member will be enough for me!

Does buying products off the site help at all? I still haven't got a copy of Community/Community EP and would be glad to get it from here. I might just make a selfless donation anyway too.:)

Interesting concept, but seriously, you wish to buy a "part" of NOOL? Is that really worth something?

Well, we'll have to think about it if our host have problem with us, but there is also the publicity way (which I hate)

Well, it does help, but not to pay the fees... ;) At least, not until we sell the original batch I guess, and I'd feel cheap to get money before the artists...

We thought about adding 1-2$ extra off all copies of Community, but I dropped the idea.. might be back for a Community 2 though, who knows...

My wife is forcing me to "give back"... so I will ;)

I'll draw a lucky winner out of all the people who sent their contribution, as part of my gratitude.

It's not much, but the winner will get a copy of Twice As Nice on the mail! I received 3 copies but never managed to do the draw yet...

Courtesy of LTM Records!

I might have a 2nd to draw, we'll see about that.

You mean I tried so hard to become a 'Member with Substance' for nothing :D

Hang on, my status hasn't changed. Does the last payment not count?

No Problem Nic, measly contribution on it's way.:clap:

I've never browsed that "About Us" thing before, as a Salvation member - I am not showing in the donators list, can you please ammend. My last installment was sent via Muffster, but seeing he is as elusive as ever, the next installment will be sent through one of the regulars who have a credit card / paypal account type thing;)

I even upped my contrib since last year... :)

Anyway, why now have some graphics showing how much money that has been raised and/or how much more is needed? Even though there's no reason for doubt, by principle I don't like these "blind" fund-raising events... (I'm stupid enough to trust flashy graphics :D )

BTW: you should have a university hosting the site... ;)

Yes it does, you are in the About Us, but I forgot something it seems... :embarassed:

Not a bad idea.. my sole problem with this is what people are going to think of it. Should it be kept anonymous?

If any extra (which never happened) money is raised, it'll be used for the next year for sure, or for an eventual move. However this year people seems to be a little nuts and too generous I must say ;)
