I was wondering what type of equipment New Order has used for the programmed parts of their songs. Do they ever use any computer software to program some things or does anyone know of any good software for programming? I'm interested in using some programmed stuff for live concerts but I wanted to know what some of the popular programs are.

Thanks for the info on the Emulator 1 and 2. I looked up some stuff on it and it looks like it might be what I want although I don't need the whole keyboard unit. Is there anything available that I could write parts using MIDI on the computer and export it to a synthesizer?

oh yeah i forgot to ask on my last post if anyone knows a place that sells any of the old E-mu Emulators or what they go for when they are sold. I didn't see any on ebay so I wasn't sure what the price range was for them.
This is a huge topic. They experimented with different sequencer technology over the years, adopting the Emulator for the first time in late 1982 I think it was. You'll occasionally find an old Emulator on E-bay, but you'd be far better off embracing some of the newer technology if you want to recreate their sounds, using a modern MIDI sequencer to a keyboard output. Somewhere on the net there must be a list of what they are using these days, maybe Sound on Sound.

don't waste your money on an emulator, maybe they were ok for the time but if you get a second hand akai s1000 or s3000 you'll get far more for far less money. it's only a sampler after all. the most "new order" synth maybe worth checking out is the prophet 5 and even then just go for the software recreation rather than the original, expensive, unreliable monster. see here : http://www.nativeinstruments.de/index.php?pro52_us

Just curious is anyone on here around the chicago area and have a band. I'd be interested in trying to set up a concert or something as soon as I get everything ready which won't be too long.
If your looking for an Emulator mail big Johan Scott from this very site whose got one that used to belong to the band. Seen it with me own eyes. And everything's got it's price.....
I'd love that myself, but not sure I could come up with a suitable price. As long as it doesn't end up in Miami!
