I hate that "remix" like you wouldn't believe, and not because it doesn't sound like the original. It's not even a song, it's a 2-second 303 loop.
Ugh.
The new Arthur Baker version of Confusion is cool though.

I think moby could at least do a pretty decent cover of Temptation... although there are a few bits of the song that might be a bit cringe-worthy -> "up down turn around" bit & and the "ooh oohs"
Well when he did New Dawn Fades, he did have Joy Division as his backing band; at least on the version I have.

the original version (w/o JD) of Moby's "New Dawn Fades" was the bside to "Feeling so Real" and was later on the soundtrack "Heat" ...tony wilson even talks about it in the liner notes to 24hr Party People
the Version of New Dawn Fades w/ JD and Billy Corgan & one more guy (forget his name at the moment) was recorded live on the Area1 Tour, and put on 24HrPartyPeople

...again, see my previous post. Moby did "New Dawn Fades" WITHOUT JD/NO back in 1994. It was the bside to "Feeling So Real." It was later featured on the "Heat" soundtrack...
years later, at one of the four shows that NO played on the Area1 tour - Moby was joined by NO & co to play the track live. That live recording was put on the 24hour party people soundtrack.
the live version is a bit different than Moby's original cover
Sure, you're entirely right : I forgot this first cover, that I've never heard. I just know the live version with NO released on the 24 HPP soundtrack.
what troubles me most about this remake, is, both versions of Temptation have character, and for the teeni-bopper crowd whom have never heard NO they will accept the moby-lized version, and discount the original, and thats dependent on whether they even discover or go out of their way to hear the original.

Moby has always been quick to praise those that influenced him. If they release this track as a single, i am sure he will give New Order serious respect when he goes on the talk show circuit.
Im certian Moby will offer due respect, both spoken and linear as well, its how it affects the younger fans appreciation of the original that troubles me.
I see... you mean like how Tears For Fears now feel like they are doing a cheap cover of Mad World whenever they perform it, even though they wrote the song.*
*Michael Andrews and Gary Jules covered Mad World for the Donnie Darko soundtrack which became a huge hit, causing people to say "tears for who?"
