......Hooky played a never heard before New Order track , I would imagine from the new album. Me and Ernie reckon it sounds like a mix between Turn my Way and Dream Attack. Good night all round, Tony Wilson spinning some of his faves as well as Clint Boon on the Wheels of Steel taking orders from Shaun Ryder. Tony Wilson had the little finger of his left hand left hand painted with nail varnish! Maybe turning goth in his old age!

Just how SHIT was Wilson's set? Opened with All Night Party, Transmish and Temptation and then just played the worst MOR rap muszak known to man. Truly awful. We'd holed up in the Castle for a few hours beforehand where they'd played the likes of Don't Believe The Hype and Fuck The Police. If you're gonna play some rap, Tony, at least give it some bollocks.

I think I know Hooky's set off by heart now! Opens with Captain and Tennille "Love Will Keep Us Together" vs LWTUA, then "I've Lost Control" vs "She's Lost Control". Have no idea what that "What The Fuck" dance track he always plays, but it's a cracker. He does a weird Blue Monday too, like a full on acid version. And we got the likes of 24HrPP, Anarchy in the UK and Out of Control. Best moment was Crystal and Regret back to back. Still don't think much of this new track. Sounds like the Cure when it opens (I cannot believe I just fcuking said that, but I wasn't the only one to say that last night either) and then doesn't have a proper chorus so a bit difficult to home in on anything.

Loads of NOOLers out for this one. Stand up Mickey Way, who was only going to the pub 'for one', then thought he'd pop into Turnmills 'for one', and was still there when we all left. JIM REILLY! Ness and Greg. The legend Johnny Giles. The Don. Will, Warren and Ian, three-quarters of re:Order. Mike, in his suit. Nick King. And, what Hooky DJ appearance would be complete without an appearance by Mr David Sultan, all the way over from Miami! Res-pect!

Quality night, as always! :thumb:

If it sounds like Dream Attack I am in!

Fantastic night. I personally loved the new song. There was a chorus, Al - Hooky got excited in the build up to it! I thought the lyrics were pretty good, though I can't recall them now.

The Ryder/Wilson interview was entertaining - the usual jokes about where the Hac money went, the dodgy bouncers, how far from the truth 24 HPP was etc.

Great night ….. Audience with Tony Wilson and Shaun Ryder was classic. Wilson’s set was bollocks.Had to leave before Hooky came on as Jane (who is 6 months pregnant) was knackered , missed the other bass god Jim Reilly as well …. Bugger. Did you make it Jim????

Did The Hookmaster play Totally Addicted To Bass? That was one of the highlights of the show in Glasgee.

The new song sounds like The Cure Al? Thank fuck I cannae remember hearing it in Scotland, but according to messages received by DoN and JG they liked it.

Yeah, he did indeed play Totally Addicted To Bass!

Don didn't seem that keen at the time - think it was him who mentioned the lack of chorus? - but he might've just had a few more listens to it since to get used to it!!!! :uhoh:

You guys can boot a concert but dont bring a recorder to this? I know the sound would suck but at least we would have an idea!

Nice one. The best way to get this site closed down would be to bootleg an unreleased track. Good thinking.

entertaining rather than interesting/informative question and answer set. ryder seemed to be on remote control and is turning into father jack. surprised nobody asked wilson why as a member of the steering group neworder didn't make it to the 'hall of fame' with joy division - but perhaps it's best to let that one lie now. (morley's on the show again today - maybe I'll ask him) he seemed quite nervous about his set - couldn't/wouldn't make eye contact with the punters who stood around the dj booth. it's an odd sight to see a dancefloor full of people motionless watching a 54 year old bloke apprehensively deal with the technology. not clubbing as I remember it. it got less abstract as the evening went on though. re: (new)order - with no shame I can say I've listened to my sneaky 80second snippet a couple of times today and although the words are indistinguishable (even with hooky singing over the top) there are hummable refrains to pick out and verse/bridge/chorus dynamics in there. I'm not sure if it's a final mix because eq and volume wise it didn't stand up as well as the songs that preceeded it. the very well received crystal and then regret. bootlegging? don't even think about asking for sharing/uploading. selfish I know but tim's spot on. as ever, it's always good to see the onliners in their pomp. in all, a very enjoyable evening.

hope to see all present again soon - putney the 14th?

I can't believe people pay to watch other people play records hahahaha:D.

Play em at home yourself, then you get to listen to what YOU want.

It is easy, take record out of sleeve, put on turntable, put needle on record, adjust volume to suit.

If anyone needs further clarification, email me

I had a great night as per usual. Fantastic to see Al, JG, Don, Mickey Way, Ness & the boys of Re:Order appearing. Hooky was very friendly throughout and said that the new album will be out in March. I was lucky enough for him to grab me around the chops and tell me "This next song's for you!". He then played the latest NO track and asked me before the vocals kicked in what it was. I told him that I didn't know (considered bullshitting but thought better of it) and was grabbed roughly again by Hooky Saying "Its our new stuff, you soft cnut!"

He had a lot of fun taking the piss out of himself most of the night (whoever offered him the London A to Z to autograph had us all laughing our arses off) turning up his solos and enjoying Johnny cash's "Thing Called Love"

Ness'fashion wear got noticed again by Hooky..... I wonder why............

A great, great night! Raspberry beer. Leffmans. Try it. However, I felt rough as a badger's bum this morning.

By the way, met Dave Sultan again (I can't remember him in Paris as I was very very drunk) who happened to be in the DJ box with Hooky. They seem like old pals! Dave looked a bit jet lagged to say the least. And the latest track by NO (which Hooky said was "Hurt" or something like that (YES I KNOW IT CAN'T BE HURT for obvious reasons) was sacked just after Hooky's instrumental because either Hooky or Mr Sultan pressed the wrong button by accident. Hooky then pressed all the buttons and totally fucked it all up. Whiach again was quite a laugh.

Good luck to those braving it to the Shetlands in December. I'd go but I don't think I am allowed.

Site closed down?

If I'd host the file maybe, but I don't see why it would have an impact on the site if anybody would share it.

You haven't forgotten the pissed-off grumblings from close to NO HQ when Colostomy sorry Slippy claimed to have bootlegged the track a few months ago?

Did that ever see the light of day?

I hope not, i can only imagine how crap the quality would have been.

I dont see why people cant wait a little bit longer. If the album is due in march, then that could mean a single in february, and that could start recieving air play in january. So three months, and we've waited three years, and seven years before that.

And even so, no matter how long we've waited, its not our decision when we hear the stuff is it?

Got a number of photos of Hooky / Ryder / Wilson and all of us who were there. Due to lack of my own webpage am unable to display, if anyone wants to do it for me, let me know. (Shug, Al???)

For the entertainment value - as JG has said in the past - Ryder resembles a badger coming out into the daylight.

Good pic of JG and Jim Riley on WIM.net!

Don't let them hear you 'cause Badger baiting is illegal. He's just a walking don't do drugs ad.

Just had a glance at the piccies on WIM.

SR looks fookin awful. I reckon he should be drafted in to do a duet with Rowetta on the X-Factor...I normally try and avoid the programme but that would be interesting.

Also has Hooky got a wardrobe full of dodgy shirts ??

Jimbo Bassman! Finally got me arse on the site..... That raspberry beer wasn't the cause of your sore head - it was the overpriced, warm Red Stripe from Turnmills on top of it! Nice bagels though, eh?
