Mr. Sumner himself said this as recorded on the BBC's TX documentary on New Order. Bernard said someone gave him a tape with Holiday on it and he liked the bass line from it.

Even better, Neil Tennant said that Getting Away With It was a song about Morrisey.

Yeah, of course: "I've been walking in the rain/Just to get wet on purpose".

Who else is it gonna be about?

Or rather, a song sung from Morrissey's point of view. Tennant even doubted if Barney was aware of the original intention behind the lyrics.

Yeh and Blue Monday was inspired by Girls Just want to have Fun, or not.

Seriously, this is what Barney said. I think I may weed this documentary out.

Well, some might prefer listening to it in lossy format. ;)

But yeah, it's a good listen, in spite of some of the segments being recycled from the 1988 Substance Doc. Of course Mr. Wilson still repeats himself, no matter what year it is. :evil4:

Good interview. I like their description of recording Technique.

Neil T. has seems to have rescinded partially on that saying it's just generally about being in Manchester. But I don't beleive him.

Its not that we dont belive you. Its just that we know about Bernards dry northern sense of humour!
