I like Movement, More then Get Ready, Republic, and Technique........

Republic is the one that swims in the sewer

i prefer "movement" to "republic" and "get ready" definitely, but i wouldn`t say its an album full of great songs or anything (except dreams never end), i just really like the gloomy mood and the drumming. the production on the vocals makes them sound really horrible though.

well "get ready" was a big disappointment for me. i realise that its a good effort considering theyre a bunch of middle aged blokes coming off an 8 year haitus but thats not helping me like it.

I like it, quite a bit actually...

I can remember playing it one Saturday afternoon after doing too many drugs (not quite PFD) and listening it wandering around the streets in Albany NY (where i used to live) and just getting blown away by it. It just has a steady darkening mood sound the later you get into the disc, and then Denial hits you right between the eyes.

Also enjoy the 1981 peel sessions too

To me - There is 3 New Orders, Pre-Confusion Days (I Like that the best) The peak of the New Order Sound (Post-Confusion and Up to True Faith/1963) Then Everything After.

I would go even further and say there's an "Early Order" period, which is essentially pre-Temptation and consists of Movement as well as EGG/Procession/Mesh/Cries&Whispers. (I exclude Ceremony/InALonelyPlace because they're JD songs.) These tracks define their own era, brief as it was, before Temptation and Bernard Albrecht becoming "loveable Barney". I wish these songs would regain their (rightful) place in the New Order catalog... You may have noticed that on the official New Order website, all these releases are omitted from the discography...

I think it's very good BUUUT, there's still something lacking in it, something that makes it, to me, less urgent than Low Life, Brotherhood, Substance or Technique.

Thing is, even though I love 'Get Ready', I'm not sure I would have cared if there wasn't all that came before.

I mean, I could still get a crush for that band, if I didn't know about them, with just a listen of those albums, or PC&L. But that wouldn't be the case with 'Get Ready'.

I love 'Get Ready' because it's a very moving album coming from where we know it came from : people that we love, the fear we had of never hear new NO material ever again, all these things...

To me, that's what might explain 'Get Ready' being not very successful.

I can't see any way whatsoever that Movement is better than GR. GR has it's weaknesses but where's the Crystal, Primitive Notion, Turn my Way on Movement? We have the passable Dreams Never End and absolutely nothing else. A horrible album.

I Like the sound and the mood of movement... the Blandness.....

I prefer everything after PCL, but then i only got into new order in 94 so maybe that's why.

Technique will always be my fave album.

Ha yeah indeed it is better than Hard house. Lyrically I quite like it - I just find it unlistenable. It's a bit bizarre when you think of the brilliant singles and the equally amazing PCL were written within a couple of years of it.
