can't believe we are having this vote! only a neurotic, paranoid character would worry about the number of people who replied to their subject.

Sure keep it. Points out who is overly verbose.

I reckon keep it - doesn't really mean anything, but interesting to see - if anyone attaches more importance to a post from a 10000 poster than a 100 poster that's their problem anyway. One day I'll reach a 1000 posts and feel important - my shrink said I shouldn't get my hopes up, but what does he know anyway.

Making it optional to the *viewer* as well as to the *poster* might be the way to go...some people get a bit hot under the collar over this, so maybe even default this to off. The forum for a lot of folks is conversational, I'm usually much too late to use it in this fashion, of course.

I've just been reading through this. I bet a few posts have been clocked up in this thread alone :)

I really don't care if the post counts stay or go, in fact I didn't even notice they were there until very recently.

I've got no real interest in how many messages each individual member has clocked up, and I haven't got time to read all of the posts anyway, but it certainly doesn't bother me to see individual post counts there. I personally don't think they add to, or detract from, the site at all.

I can only speak for myself but i've found out loads more about New Order from visiting this site and I think the level of activity and energy around this place is fantastic. I love the fact that people here are more than happy to share their experiences, memories, opinions and knowledge of the band so openly with other fans. That's what makes this place special IMHO, not post counts. I know people aren't always going to agree on things, but the little debates around here keep things interesting.
