Which song...

Just one? Vanishing point comes to mind first. One of my favorites. But the person would probably be pissing and moaning 'cause it doesn't sound like confusion (pump panel bollocks). It's amazing that for so many people their only association with New Order is Blade. Which I guess is good exposure for NO but if people don't know anything else then what's the point.
Sorry for the rant. I've been reading too much Martin and Sebbs. :)

Ah, Muffy, faster to the return button and more succinct as well.
I've been reading so much about your special treats. can I get in as well? Or have too many people come a-knockin' at this point?
Cheers,
Iain
Who's Westlife? Or don't I want to know?
Skullcrusher, live Frankfurt 84 version. All these fucking so-called metal kids won't know what's hit them.

Good answer.
I wanted to play Crystal to my sister back in Hungary, but the video was on heavy rotation on MTV Europe so I didn't have to 'coz she liked it already. But she thought that the band in the video is New Order of course... Than I gave her my old best of tape and she fell in love with 1963!
Erm... I've just realised that my full name is on display written in capitals! Could anybody tell me how to change it?
I've actually done this a few times; I usually play 'The Perfect Kiss'. If they like it I might lend them one or two CD's for further investigation, otherwise I don't bother :D
This is a usually quit a problem. If you're lucky the only song they know is Blue Monday. But most of the time, they don't even know that. Personally I would play True Faith or Regret. Those are really catchy. If you play Crystal or Temptation most will find it too noisy. I'm afraid that most people are not interested in really listen to non-top40-music. On the other hand what do you care. You know this great music, so count your self lucky :D
Come now...surely we should all play Rock the Shack to the uninitiated...actually...I would have to go with True Faith...hell, I had a hard time only picking out the 14 that went on the disc I burned for a co-worker...
Hmmm,
Otherwise we might get threads like : which album is better: 'Pop' by U2 or Get Ready? Like I saw on the official NO website. ![]()

It's either under fan club under edit profile or neworder online account management.

Why would you want to change such a wonderful name as that? There's not that many anti-vivisectionists on here ! :)
crystal or regret, some younger people get turned off by anything that sounds dated or retro to them.
How about playing rock the shack backwards over a forward playing loop of the first 17 seconds of BM live on TOTP? that would get anyone right into new order.

Stevie boy - have you been drinking![]()
Crystal, the song, has worked on a couple of people for me, which is more than can be said for the video.
Interesting how a couple of people have mentioned True Faith...that would be my choice since its my favorite.
I found out about them when my across the hall friend from college played PC&L to me when it came out, I just loved it.
But if I was to give them a snippet of song, it be True Faith, World, Close Range, Your Silent Face, and Temptation
Well, again a difficult one...
.... choosing....
Confusion, 12" version(s) as remixed by the Arthur
or
Dubvulture, 12".
Just listened last weekend again to these beautiful peaces of vinyl!

Yeah, stafford water. It's the most potent liquor known to mankind.
:\puke:
If I were to play a New Order song to a person who's never heard their material, I'd play "Run." I feel this song captures the essence of New Order's sound.
