What track would you chose as the 2nd and 3rd SINGLES to be released from WFTSC?

Since Krafty is already chosen as single, which of the 10 other songs would you pick as single? I don't mean what are your favourite song - I'm not really talking about quality here, just in being catchy and potential hits.

2nd Morning Night And Day 3rd Dracula's Castle 4rth Hey Now What You Doing

(Jetstream maybe if very well remixed)

I think the choice is perfect.

I'm only curious to hear the radio versions of the title track and Jetstream.

The question you have to ask yourself is, is there a potential for a 4th one? I believe so, but I'm quite sure that by the time Jetstream will be released, the 2nd new album will be almost ready... so don't hold your breathe.

We didn't get a 3rd one from Get Ready after all, we got a out-of-album single, just like many people like.

WFTSC and then JET though these ARE NOT my favorite tracks

I think that the choices are good. Jetstream could do a top-ten if they accompany it with a good video.

Also, I'd release 'Guilt' as the 4th single, if well remixed, it will hit all the dancefloors. :thumb:

Guilt is a useless emotion really needs to be a single, it'll get picked up on Radio 1 and played in loads of clubs for sure.

I write this based on my impression of the radio market in North America, where, IMHO, stations give airplay to songs that sound like what they think people want to hear and/or to whatever songs have a lot of record company muscle behind them, not to those songs that are actually good. Maybe (hopefully) things are different over in the UK & Europe.

Based on that, this album honestly has no good potential singles.

Problem is, the stronger tracks (Who's Joe, the title track, Turn, Road to Ruin) are, stylistically, not the type of songs that will gain a lot of airplay. The tracks that might (krafty, morning, jet, guilt, working overtime) tend to be a lot weaker than the above.

I would think that Crystal would have had a much better shot at chart success here in the U.S., it had much more radio friendly elements than the stronger tracks on WFTSC and was a strong song to boot, but as far as I know it didn't even chart here.

Sirens and Jetstream are great choises. But Guilt is a useless emotion would make a great club single, like someone like you was. It doesn't need a video, just a bunch of mixes. It could be a club hit.

And Turn would be a perfect 4th single! My choises for this cd are:

1st single Krafty 2nd single Sirens 3rd single Jetstream 4th single Turn Special club single Guilt is a useless emotion

I agree with you, although this album has very good tracks, I don't see too much potential as hit singles. The fact of people here are not chosing at least a track in common shows that the tracks have good quality but none stands out. Almost none had any doubts when picking Regret for 1sr single of Repubblic, for a comparison. And since Regret, New Order didn't have that much strong tracks: maybe Here To Stay (if it had a better promotion by the record company), and they almost succeded with Crystal.

I agree that Crystal was the stronger track for single purposes on Get Ready, maybe it didn't have the proper promotion it deserved.

  1. Krafty

  2. Who's Joe (but probably too long for a single)

  3. Jetstream (needs some remixing work)

  4. Working Overtime (just because it shouldn't be a single, it should)

By the way, I'm not sharing Nic's enthousiasm about another album before the end of the year.  They just have about 7 songs left, which means that they'll have to write and record a few others (say 4), which will take them at least one full year after their tour.  I wouldn't expect another album before end 2006, spring 2007.

Dracula's Castle has to be the 2nd single. By far the best track on the album (albeit they should change the title). I'd like to hear some decent electro remix of the track.

My choices:

Morning Night And Day - One of the (many) real standouts on this new album. All the classic New Order elements feature, and Barney's lyrics about clubbing/drinking are dead on to anyone who's ever suffered from a hangover "I said that I would never do it again/What kind of fool do you think I am?" So true. The chorus is there too "It always seems to happen". The way the guitar is pan/mixed is fucking cool too, the whole track in general just brought a smile to my face. I could see girls dancing to this :D

Guilt Is A Useless Emotion - Although there's not much in it, I think this is slightly better than Jetstream. Perhaps they will release Jetstream to capitalise on the Ana Matronic connection, but then again Turn My Way with Corgan didn't make it as a Get Ready single so who knows? GIAUE is a great clubbing track, the heartbeat intro is a nice touch too. I forsee loads of remixes and with a really succint Radio mix, it's definitely something that would not sound out of place on Radio 1.

Turn - I haven't read one bad review of this track, it seems to have gone down a treat with the New Order hardcore and I love it the more I hear it. Great everything and it's like a fantastic "lost" track from the Technique sessions. Surely a single? I hope so, I'd buy more than one copy if it did hit the shops. It like some glorious merge of of Monaco's Shine, and Loveless from Technique. Perhaps the finest track on WFTSC? It's tough to decide but it's definitely top two for me anyway.

Those are my ideal WFTSC singles but to be honest I don't really give what a toss they release! There's nothing as dreary as 60 MPH on this album and that's good enough for me ;) New Order can't fuck up the single choice this time as they did with GR because there's so much quality to choose from. But will we get four singles? Who knows, GR only spawned two compared to Republic's mammoth four.

Ally.

To be honest, I'm fairly happy with the choices they've made for singles, in so much as I don't really give a shit. Can't say I'm a massive fan of Jetstream, but doesn't mean to say I don't approve or disapprove of its release. Am not sure why but Krafty does seem the 'obvious' single when playing the album in context, even though it's not the standout track.

Only thing I would perhaps change would be having WFTSC released as the very first single. Overkill, possibly, but to release the single and album of the same name AND include a line which actually sings 'Waiting for the Sirens Call' strikes me as making more sense than sneaking this one out AFTER the album.

Dunno, i'm busy wondering what the 7th, 8th and 9th singles will be :evil4:

2nd Turn (and when the album is released proper the petition will begin! :thumb: )

3rd WFTSC

4th Jetstream (club mixes only - Les Brothers Chemical anyone?)

After what they've done to Here To Stay, Chemical Brothers should remix anything they wanted, even produce a full NO album and I would probably be very happy with the final result.

I would go with Dracula's Castle, Turn, and Guilt is a Useless Emotion. That is all the main radiostations/audiences covered, everybody get's a taste of New Order. Truly, any of the songs COULD be singles, I really think they are all top notch. Cant wait to pick this sweet baby up!

I don't think they would pick I Told You So, but if it was released in the early 90s I'm sure it would have been a huge hit...

:D

Track one has been released as a single on the past 3 albums (Technique, Republic trks 1-4, Get Ready 1&2). judging this I say definately "Who's Joe?" and "WFTSC"

In the last 3 albums - Technique, Republic and Get Ready - the FIRST single was the FIRST track of the album. So Who's Joe would be the first single if they were following this... So I don't think we can take any conclusions from the album order this time.
