Which artists would you kill your own kin to see live?.....or at least mortally wound them (they'd get better!)? Here's my list:

1.Radiohead 2.New Order 3.Lou Reed 4.The Who (yes, they got back together for the 200th time) 5.U2 (shitty attitudes nonewithstanding, they put on a great show)

None, not even the Order. There are a few aquaintances i'd gladly mutilate though to see a reunion of DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS! :smoking:

I'd like to see and experience the "Gorillaz" show.

Muffy...

just what the hell is it with you and the midnight runners??? Is this a gag that I am just missing out on???

and as for killing, or even injuring my family, just couldn't do it...not even to see the order in my own living room...

No one , at least none of my familymembers. Though there are some people i'd kill anytime just to see New Order. One of them would surely be Pointdexter!:lol::lol::lol:

Joy Division.

The Jam only made it to Seattle in 82 I think, so I would go for them circa All Mod Cons/Setting Sons era.

The Velvets with John Cale

Joy Division, as us statesiders obviously never got the chance. :(

What does ou812 mean, apart from the fact that it's the title of a Van Halen album?

I always read it as O, you ate one too?

Nirvana and Smashing Pumpkins? You're a follower then, not a leader? I'd rather watch drying paint.....

Hum... I just realised that, etymologically, Pointdexter means the hand (or the finger) that points, i.e. :finger:. But it must be a pure coincidence, of course...

DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS just happen to be one of the most under-rated bands of our time. Even in their commercial heyday when Come On Eileen was a worldwide hit they tried to be fresh and honest in all they done. Their albums are all classics, with their last, 'Don't Stand Me Down' one of the greatest 'undiscovered' albums ever. Buy one of their albums Jeff, not their best of compilation, and prepare to be blown away! :smoking:

Muffy, you gave me an idea for a xmas gift for my girl but, sadly, Dexy's records look very difficult to find nowadays...

Any tip ?

I don't know if I would kill but I will always want to see live as many times possible the following acts :

NO, of course, but also Mercury Rev, The Beta Band, Stereolab, Belle & Sebastian, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine (erm...), Spiritualized...

Well Geoff, no matter when I tried to download your gem it kept saying 'search prohibited for copyright reasons',even after you renamed it and even when I browsed your files and clicked on it. Eventually I gave up. I was gonna include both tracks on a compilation for the orderline faithful but with one thing and another it did'nt come off. It would have been good though. :smoking:

Try here, hmv.co.uk, they should have some albums not just the best of. :smoking:

Thanks for the info about The Dexys, Muffy...

Regarding that song, I thought it finally worked out when I sent the file to your queue. That's weird...

A Festival Bill consisting of the following bands:

AGGROKULTURE BASHER LUNATIC FRINGE GOLD BLADE MO LARRY AND CURLY MALKO SHANKOVICH

Simply because I play either drums, percussion, keys or one-note basslines in all of them at some point or other. So, yep, purely for self-gratifying purposes.

The only band of somebody else's that I would dearly love to be part of the line up in would have to be the one and only mighty PIGFACE (the truly colossal ongoing "hip-hop-deep-space-dub-quasi-metal-industrial-techno-thrash-bash- electronica 'supergroup'" of Martin Atkins featuring a whole revolving door of illustrious contributors and piss-artists. Their multi-drummer sound inspired my own outfit BASHER.) Now THAT would be pure heaven. :)

Ah, Muffy, but (and no-one else has mentioned this, unbelievably) what did you reckon of our Kev's notorious and ill-advised 1998 "comeback" wearing women's garments with stockings and suspenders? Surely THAT wasn't so cool was it? (snigger) By doing that, he almost succeeded in destroying the fine legacy that WAS indeed the seminal DEXY'S himself....... hmmmmmm.

Stereolab, Buster? You want more Stereolab? With Pleasure!!!

Well..... Let's Discuss Stereolab* Then!! I will be opening a thread very soon on this subject for us to lounge in at our leisure - watch this space..... :smoking:

(* truly one of our greatest and most undervalued bands of the 90's)

I bought the album, it was utter shite! An album full of covers is not what I expected from someone who had always striven to be original in what he done. I saw an interview with Kevin Rowland and Al Archer some months back and the fire had definitely gone out in Kevin's eyes, I don't think he'll be back. :smoking:

Well, Muff-man, even though you surreptitiously passed 1,000, nevertheless, congratulations, and keep them coming.

And that (considering such a back catalogue) truly is a sad thing to see. Don't you think?
