According to you, which New Order song is the lightest and which one is the darkest.
Obvious pick for the last one would be In A Lonely Place, but there must be other options.
As for the lighter one, Such A Good Thing pops into mind...

The darkest in the early days would be Senses off Movement, off the contemporary stuff would probably be Here To Stay. Ironic(not really) as both the songs are about dead people
The lightest in terms of both sound and lyrical content is World in Motion. At the cusp between post-Technique and pre-Republic. Run comes pretty close though.

dark: Turn The Heater On (ok not strickly N O but the song gives me the creeps)

Darkest - I always thought "Murder" sounded positively meanacing...
The great thing about New Order is that you have plenty to choose from in both categories. They've really covered the spectrum in their career.
Darkest: Doubts Even Here Lightest: Liar
Lots of good choices on this thread. I thought of these two as being a good contrast.
Darkest - Too Late is a bit creepy, ditto IALP & Murder
Lightest - probably the strangely insubstantial World or Spooky, ironically not even a remotely spooky song

Lightest: All The Way Really stands out as a happy bouncy, just generally 'up' song.
Darkest: Would probably have to go with Elegia. Although following honourable mentions: In A Lonely Place, Vanishing Point, Doubts Even Here.
Also a special mention to Leave Me Alone, which I somehow find dark and light at the same time....

darkest: also many, but murder and angel dust sticks out. Angel Dust got a nice echo reverb that sounds more haunting.
For me, the lightest and darkest (in both tone and content) are probably the back-to-back singles of absolute genius: "Thieves like us" and "Murder."
Lightest: World in Motion or possibly All the Way Darkest: Murder, the Peel session of 5 8 6 or This Time of Night
