im going to both oxygen and t in the park. does anyone know what days they are playing? it will be a bit rushed to get to the two of them.

This looks good - given that T in the Park is sold out (and as far as I can tell no-one will flog you a ticket for less than double the face value) I'd say this was another decent away day.

You'd need an over 18 to take you in and agree to stay with you at all times, and security could pick you up on it if you try to buy drink or are seen wandering around looking too young
oldmonkey - book accomodation NOW if you want it. Nass is the nearest town but its hotel stock was just reduced by 200 rooms by a fire... otherwise, campsite.
I've not got the room here, unfortunately. Or the room in my car to bring people from here to the festival..
Id advise anyone from outside Ireland who wants to see newOrder live and is prepared to go overseas to do it NOT to go to this cynical rip off of a cartoonish pissup in a fucking racecourse. Im pretty gutted it will be their only Irish date, and glad I saved some bunce to go see them a few times over the summer myself.
Saying all that, it is new Order, and within range, so Ill be there (but only for one day). Ususally know a rake of people going anyway.
Prepare to pay through the nose for EVERYTHING, have anything you posess and that is sold on site to be zapped out of your hands within a 10 mile radius of Naas, and see your favourite band play support a bunch of student friendly hairy muppets and eventually get a muted response from a bunch of godforesaken drunk racist U2 supporting pillocks.
You really have an idealistic view of other festivals, don't know?
Oxegen is known for being amongst the cheapest in Europe - its only a hundred quid sterling for the two days, whereas how much is Glasto?
They're only playing festivals. We only have festival in Ireland. Its known for being very cheap in comparison to others, and having a lot of good acts at it
What you moan about is the same of ALL festivals - but usually you're paying 200 STG for two days and even more the onsite facilities
Plus at least at Oxegen they take away the portaloos and put new ones in every few hours. And put new hay in the pissoir...

CC - after ade x's wonderful "NO helped me come out" post t'other day, this is my second fave NOOL post ever. Is it really that bad??? And if it is, it just makes me want to go more!!! I'm getting my St. George's flag mocked up with "Stoke-on-Trent" horizontal and "New Order 2005" vertical. Will this get my head kicked in at Oxegen???

hrm... the flag is an odd one... I've regularly brought a tricolour to the UK.... but its not seen the same in the UK as a georges cross is here
BUT the georges cross is infinitately safer than the union jack would be. You could risk it and just shove it up your jumper at the sign of any trouble.

Good on you son. That weekend i'll be waving my st georges cross at the Move festival in manchester, and probably in 5th av as well.
Last summer I went to Bennicassim, it cost around €150 camping. For that you got 3 full festival days. The festival started around 9 at night and went on to 3 or 4 am. I camped 5 nights, the night before the festival there were some “high ranking” but not so high quality (Ash, etc) bands playing, and the night after the festival there was a beach party (oh yeah, Bennicassim in a beach town in northern Spain, not Naas) with 2manyDJS playing. You were free to do just about anything short of vandalism, were allowed bring anything into the campsite you wanted by way of food, etc, and the organisers dished out free lollies when it got a little too hot. The music was great too (Brian Wilson, Kraftwerk, etc)
It was a seriously good experience.
I went to Oxegen (then called Witnness) the year before, and was stopped from bringing in a bottle of fucking drinking water (sealed) from the site, and forced to pay €4 for the same inside. It pissed rain, the music was shite, and the highlight was Glen Hansard or some other ginger tosser blow his load to a crowd of around 20,000 stupid, smelly, muppets.
Now if I lived in, for example Holland, and I wanted to see New Order at a festival in Europe this summer, and didn’t fancy the British equivalent of Oxegen (T, V, etc… although I gather there would be more New Order fans there, not a load of muted drunk spanners), and I had to choose between Oxegen and another festival………….
No matter what, I'll be there. Depending on who else from here comes, I'll be either the only or one of at most three people in a Brighton shirt (cyan/white stripes) with yellow hair, so its not that hard to see me.
You are entitled to take my prescence as a reason *not* to go if you want
