Even NEWER New Songs? — Forum Archive

No-one seems to have picked up on this, cos everyone was more concerned about Hooky saying the band might be playing The Village, Leave Me Alone, TTON, etc, when they next play live ... but doesn't anyone else think it's bizarre they're already rehearsing tracks which didn't even make the Final Cut of WFTSC?!

These tracks won't be available ANYWHERE and the first we EVER get to hear of them may well be out in the live arena!

That could certainly shake a few setlists up. The tracks might not even have final titles yet!

It's 1985 all over again! Rock & roll!!

Trouble is, my bastard brother has decided to get married in the USA this year, so I can't afford Glastonbury, or any of the other festivals.

Only chance I'll get to hear any of these gems live, is if New Order play somewhere down south (probably London), and even then it'll have to be a weekend performance.

I live in hope... Anyone heard rumours of 'proper' UK gigs other than festival appearances?

No, I noticed too, Al - still reeling from the idea of The Village, 2005 version. The idea of hearing new new material at any of these gigs is indeed one that has me salivating like Pavlov's Dog - I really can't wait to hear the new new stuff - 'Sirens' material live is interesting as an idea alone, but what will be sacrificed from the live set to accomodate the other new material? I still think the core of Ceremony, TF, BLT, BM and Temptation will be there, but all others could well be up for grabs!!! I still don't know if they can pull off 'Turn' live, coz that has Barn on acoustic through the verses, and he notoriously can't sing and play simultaneously...maybe if Phil and Gill could do the guitar bits, or more likely a live re-structure...this would sound ace live... You Lucky, lucky Brits, Euros and Septics. CTB :bear:

I could NOT believe that he meant THE OTHER SEVEN(or whatever they have) so when no one mentioned this here,i just thought i was MISTAKEN as per usual.After all the venue was in the WRONG place and it all seemed a bit of a wind up.But indeed if this is TRUE even DIGGY MIKE may smile.DOUBTS EVEN HERE.

They could also develop the "missing" ones live... like they did before... test their material before the new album would be released.

That would be a shocker. Unfortunatly, only those attending the warm up gig will know... (well, for now, if there isn't one in the UK first)

After the bootlegging of Sirens' I can't see them playing anything live which is unreleased. The likleyhood of a track moving from stage to an audience held DAT to mp3 format in days makes it a no-go IMHO.

If they wanna play old album tracks like The Village, plus new album tracks then I think they're gonna have to bite the bullet on some of their old live staples, surely ?. Time to go.....BLT, True Faith, Touched and even Ceremony. All the Get Ready tracks except Crystal can head for the waste disposal unit too. What else will be culled ?. These Festivals with their limited set times means they're gonna have to be ruthless with their set lists.

Its really cheered me up to hear Hooky mention that these old tracks are under consideration, time to blow the cobwebs from the Get Ready set list and freshen things up.

if the new songs Hooky mentioned were not good enough to even make WFTSC I'm not going to get that excited. They didn't make the cut presumably cos they are not good enough, and if they are even worse than songs like "I told you so" they must be pretty shite

They played Hurt not so long ago - wasn't it Manchester Apollo - shit just looked it up - that was 1998!!

No, Hurt wasn't played live at the gig you mentioned - it hasn't been played live for nearly 20 years

Who said they weren't good enough?

As far as I know, they are good enough to keep them for another album, so IMHO, if they would have done only 1 album, I Told You So would have been a B-SIDE, as would have been Working Overtime.
