Release Turn as a single!

They'd be seriously f'in mad not to. But knowing them and record companies it'd probably go the way of Vanishing Point or 1963 did in the past. Sure I like those moments on their LPs where you think "ah, this should have been a single, it would have made no 1, they would have been massive" and you kind of love it that they didnt at the same time. Could yet happen with Turn you know, its one of the few that really holds its own against their timeless '80-'89 stuff.

New Order really could have been the next beatles (in the idea of as good as you are popular..well internationally). Heck, if they had released the right songs, we may have been looking at another "1" deal, with all of New Order's number ones, LOL. Well, maybe not, but anyway. turn should definently be a single. No edit, no remixes, give us some new songs b-sides! I mean, their not really touring, they should go write two incredible songs to go with turn.

Turn is (I think anyway) one of those songs that makes the album great. I don't think it would be a very excitable single though, especially with New Order trying to (successfully so far) gather huge momentum. I've said it before, Guilt is a Useless Emotion is the song to grab new fans with.

Besides with that remix of Guilt on the North American version of WFTSC, it might be a hint that the 3rd single will be intended to that benefitial American/Canadian market.

The two strongest songs that would be great as singles - and are probably commercially viable - are Turn and Waiting for the Sirens call. I wouldn't be surprised if Morning Night & Day was released as a single, or even I Told You So. It all depends on who they are trying to target or if they don't care about any of the marketing stuff. But it would appear that someone is trying to market the new album a bit more.

I second the hope for some new songs as B-sides to the singles. I think the Get Ready singles had some B-sides, so maybe they will continue this with Siren's Call.

I as well never understood why they didn't release TURN MY WAY as a single...

With the BILLY CORRIGAN/NEW ORDER double whammy one two punch it would have gotten massive airplay on alternative radio here in the States.

While I love TURN I'm not sure how it would fare as a single. I almost thing that WFTSC would make a better single as it's closer to the whole 1980's retro vibe happening with THE KILLERS, THE BRAVERY, etc. TURN has a more timeless/classic structure that gives an almost 1960's feel to it.

Where I can really see TURN shine is on a film soundtrack or over a movie trailer kicking in right after one of those cheesey, baritone voiceovers... "Richard Johnson had it all... A beautiful wife, two wonderful children... but then..." and as we hear what disaster befalls Ben Affleck's character, TURN kicks in...

I do like Turn, but it doesn't strike me as single material. Surely the third and probably final single will be WFTSC, probably backed my mixes of Guilt, as WFTSC isn't really mix friendly

C'mon! surely Where's Joe should be a single? Its better than Turn! Much better chorus, perfect blend of synths, guitar and Hooky's bass - Bernard's singing is pretty damn good - a bit sad sounding. Heck all the ingredients are there - its just classic New Order. Turn is a good song, though sounds a tad REM - ish. Still good though, better than most of Get Ready put together.

Where's Joe? As in, "Where have you gone, Joe DiMaggio?"

Turn should never be a single

a) its sacrilige to contemplate remixing it b) its an "album" track 3) there are more saleable singles on the album 4) neworders finest moments have come from songs that "should have been singles" there is a reason for this... 5) Making it into a single would lose its qudos somewhat if it didnt chart mega high, remember BLT....

I'd just like one last single that shouts "fuck the charts, fuck record companies, fuck factory, fuck tony wilson, this is how good we really are" and then they can call it a day if they like ;-) Turn is the only song on that album that truly stands tall alongside their great singles like True Faith, Temptation, Ceremony, Perfect Kiss, Bizarre Love Triangle etc etc etc. Tell me I'm not wrong?

I'd like to see some remixes taking adavantage of that clipped bassline in verse two.

Now, you know I wrote from day one that Turn would be a huge hit in America. But on the other hand, now Jetstream is the second single, so what do we make of the title track? That's another great song, everyone likes it, another potential success. I think there are only two ways to solve the problem: a) Release Turn in America and WFTSC in Europe b) Release both the tracks as singles, that makes four total, but it happened with Republic too... maybe just release one in September and the other for Christmas...

I think Krafty and WFTSC sound too similar for the first 20 seconds - epecially for the average who's Joe out there. That being said, it's going to be tough to differentiate between them to even know that two separate songs have been released (assuming Jetstream is No. 2 which, according to bodily functions, it is in my book).

For the U.S., I suggest something sweet like Turn or dance-oriented like MNAD. We have short attention spans.

Maybe NO could release a CD single which included Turn, Turn My Way and Turn The Heater ON? That might turn everyones attention

Personally, I never liked Turn my Way. Fuck Bill Corgan - never liked him anyway. Doesn't he just write books now? Nice career after Pumpkins (NOT) His voice annoys me.

I remember playing GR for a friend who had never heard of New Order and they couldn't stop laughing at the lyric (owning keys and washing cars?) It would have been a poor choice as a single.

Turn is one of the strongest tracks on the record - I like it more than Jetstream. I could see Guilt as a single - I think you'd bring a lot more new fans with that one. On the record thats a strong double hit - too bad the momentum is killed by Working OT. I really hate that song.
