Love Will Tear Us Apart (Canal+ session)

Thank you very much!
What? No "whoop"s'?! No "come on"s?!
I'm disappointed.
Well, at least there's a whistle before the fantastic final...
"Merci beaucu,
Aurevoire,
See you tomorrow,
See you next week,
See you next year!"
This sounds like 1983! One could even think our Barney's back to doing loads of drugs?! ;)
I know I shouldn't moan really. It's great that they're finally playing a few Joy Division songs (although they should play the excellent revamp of Isolation and Heart & Soul more often). But the present version of LWTUA sounds a bit too 'nice', light and sing-a-long jolly. Why can't they play it more like the record. I think it's mainly down to Steve adopting a very basic drum pattern, by his standards anyway. It's nothing like the stunning drum style on the record. It completely dictates the mood of the song and the current version kind of loses it's urgency.

Still missing Regret, Temptation and the other takes of Regret and Love Will Tear Us Apart.
Absolutely wonderful extended version of Crystal!!!
Maybe it's the best live rendition ever of this song. I love the instrumental bit and the final...
Jetstream is also really cool, very powerful, Barney's whistles enhance it! ![]()
Tu du du du du du - whoooop! J! E! T! jay ee teeee!
Great pop song and if you don't like it I'm sorry for you.
Any chance of having Regret and Temptation as well or can I burn my CDR already? ;)

different stokes then. the whistleing is obnoxious and ruins the song for me. My loss, i suppose. In fact, all the new songs performed were very, very shaky at best and complete failures at worst. Hooky, Steve and Phil seem to be able to handle playing live but Bernard is a total mess on stage. I can understand why Bernard doesn't enjoy performing on stage. He seems so nervous and unsure of himself, like an awkward teenager who finds solace in cream filled doughnuts. I wish i could have seen them back in the early/mid eighties, before Ecstasy ruined his stage presence.
Maybe ecstasy was Barneys stage presence in the 80's? Cos now he sounds shot to f*ck. Jetstream is embarrassing at best. The whistles are naff. He really should have seen someone and got advice about performing. These summer gigs could finish new order off! How tragic an end that would be,
Barney's always been a headcase, and now the whistles along with his trademark yelps make him seem like a senile old man with Tourette's. And, yet somehow I don't mind this at all.
