The one name that sticks in my mind is Jonathan Demme. That may seem a bit obvious since he directed the Perfect Kiss video, but I recall an interview that he did with Ian Penman of the NME about 20 years ago where he professed his love for bands like Joy Division, Killing Joke, and the Desperate Bicycles. Since he included The Fall in Silence of The Lambs, I just doubt that he ever forgot about Joy Division in terms of being a fan.
Probably the most famous New Order fan is the Pope. He is often heard whistling the riff from Touched By The Hand of God whilst showering. I have this in true faith (ha) from my mate who worked at the Vatican as a toilet cleaner for three days until his untimely dismissal for urinating in one of the recently-cleaned toilets.
Claudio Ranieri is also a well-known New Order fan. I still have video footage of an interview with him last season (albeit through an interpreter) where he said "that fookin Slow Jam is a load of bollocks. They should have put a remix of Someone Like You on the album instead".

...no, no...i guess there was a mistake in the translation of this video footage...he didn't say "put a remix of SLY on the album instead", he meant "they should've had the producer of the SLY remixes for the album instead of Steve Osbourne..." :D

I saw The housemartins at a New Order gig, Hacienda June 1987. Paul Heaton wasn't there and the arsonist drummer had left, but that leaves Fatboy Cook, Stan and the drummer who ended up in the Beautiful South.
If celebs at gigs count then what about Charles and Diana being presented to New Order in Hollywood. I only ever saw that on a News Broadcast. Now she must have been a JD obsessive.

Bizarre but true....when Electronic were completing Raise The Pressure, That gormless fuckwit was in the studio's with Barney and Johnny one night having a sneak preview - and he told Barney he really liked the order and jd - it's also in an interview with the NME;)

Actually, Nigel Spleen mentioned The Pope as a New Order fan - you're wrong - he's in fact ahuge fan of the Fall - have you heard him lately - he sounds more and more like Mark E. Smith when he does his sermons - most spooky i reckon.!! Everytime I see him on telly he reminds me of the old Manc git - and I'm in stitches laughing at the cranky old sod.!! Come to think that's probably what Smithy will look like when he hits 60 - let alone 80!!
