People Magazine give WFTSC 3 stars

Just saw in the new People Magazine that they gave WFTSC a 3 out of 4 stars in their review of the album. Nothing to big to mention in the review except they mentioned how Moby's new album covers them, how they collaborated with Gwen, and The Killer's got their name from a NO video, but other then that is was pretty generic.

On each review the recommend a song to download and they recommended, "Turn" as the track to check out 1st. They are usually pretty tough really, so 3 out of 4 is great with regards to their album reviews.

i still think "Turn" would be the best single to release in the U.S.

Yeah, for sure. But Krafty isn't a horrible choice either. Krafty is getting quite a bit of air play on the alternative staion here in the San Francisco area, so that is a good sign. :)

Yeah, they are trying to do the whole mainstream indie thing, Block Party, The Bravery, Kaiser Chiefs etc..but the other day they were playing some crap and I heard an add that they were sponsoring a System Of A Down concert or one of those crappy bands they swore they never would play again. I only listen to Howard Stern in the morning really. If it weren’t for that I wouldn't really know what they were doing. Sad, but true.

Live 105 were so great at one time too.

They were THE BEST. Then they changed their format to Staind/System of a Down etc, and stopped playing New Order and the other great bands they used to play. Played Orgy's cover of Blue Monday, but never New Order. I wouldn't mind them bringing other bands into the mix, but they completely dropped all of the bands on their previous playlist.

So do they play stuff from their old playlist now (i.e., New Order, Depeche, Cure), or is it just the stuff you mentioned?

Their orgianal intention was to mix the older alternative in with new hip indie stuff, and they did at 1st, but sadly not so much anymore. It's either new bands or crap like Green Day, U2, and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Not that those bands are crap per say, but not much of a stretch to create better radio.

They have their moments and are playing Krafty it seems, but it's getting pretty boring. I was hoping to hear more classic bands mixed in, but seems they only get played on the flashback show etc. The dance show, Sub Sonic, can be really good, but the rest is pretty boring and it seems some butt rock my be making it's way back into the playlist.

Audioslave or Velvet Revolver anyone??? Fuck!

Considering you can hear RHCP, U2, and Green Day all on 101.3 these days, I don't think that's much headway.

Actually...I think that a fair amount of credit should be given to Live 105 for helping to fill up the Kaiser.

They had a NO day the week before and I actually heard regret and world played during the day...they had a UK weekend again featuring new order and the chems one weekend before as well...the problem with Krafty is that it doesn't fit very well with most of the other songs on the station. Krafty is a good pop song but has very little edge whatsoever to it.

Turn or Joe would probably fare much better if they were ever to make it into rotation (unlikely as Live 105 is corporate owned and will probably only play "singles" designated by the label)

See, back in the day, Steve Masters had the free reign to play what he thought should be heard. He brought a lot of new music to the airwaves. I don't remember, but was he the programming manager as well? They were more about the music before, even though they were corporate then as well.

Yeah, the Steve Masters era was really good. He still shows up from time to time on radio around the bay area. His mix show in the early 90's were always great. Well, for me anyway.

Totally agree and I would even go so far as to say that between Steve Masters and KROQ...they really helped 1963 get a lot of play as well.

Steve was a HUGE NO fan...if you listen to his mixes he always had at least one NO song in there...

I did hear a couple of KROQ radio ads for WFTSC while down there, too bad none of the usual stores had the Krafty single in stock today.

Had a peek at Australian edition of Rolling Stone on Monday & they gave Siren's a four-star rating and a few inches of column space in the album reviews.
