They just pushed Moby out of first place!

So the top 10 of that chart is:

So congrats to them, they DID manage to get a #1 in the US ;) by the side door, but it is #1 ;)

Just a dozen or so more gigs and who knows what the potential of the album could be in the U.S. Play shows at 2,500-5,000 seat theaters/arenas and really promote it before the new album next year. In fact, here's how the 2005 WFTSC North American Tour should have looked, given that the band is off from playing gigs until late June:

4/29 - Oakland 5/1 - Coachella 5/2 - Los Angeles 5/4 - Seattle 5/5 - Vancouver, B.C. 5/7 - Denver 5/9 - Phoenix 5/11 - Dallas 5/13 - Kansas City 5/14 - Minneapolis 5/16 - Chicago 5/17 - Toronto 5/18 - Montreal (Ian Curtis day; band plays ICB) 5/20 - Boston 5/21, 5/22 - New York 5/24 - Philadelphia 5/26 - Washington, D.C. 5/28 - Atlanta 5/29 - Miami

That's 20 gigs in a mostly-May schedule, and I even gave them Memorial Day off. Let me book 'em in '06. :evil4:

That's quite a feat since that MIA album is blowing up worldwide right now. To beat Moby an MIA is a major accomplishment especially, as was mentioned earlier, the album is mostly a Rock album.

It should be a sweet schedule from the band's viewpoint, as well. Fook, you got 20 gigs in 31 days so there's plenty of rest/radio promotion time, the band would have played every Saturday night (NY included), and included are three Canada dates. I mean, they don't have to be U2 and play two U.S. legs of 50-shows a leg, but they also should have shown a little more effort than they did last week.

That's my opinion.

i'd leave out KC and Minnesota, if Oakland did'nt sell out and it took Chicago almost a month to sell out, they might have problems selling tickets in those places.

id replace KC with Vegas. New Order at the house of Blues in Vegas :)

and add Detroit in place of Minnesota. The dance elements of New Order and the history of Dance music in Detroit would make a nice combo :)

their reasons are actually very respectable for not doing more dates. i thought it was laziness as well but it isnt.

if Oakland did'nt sell out

The Kaiser Arena Web site advertises its capacity as almost 8,000 for festival seating (which the NO show was) and almost 6,000 reserved. I suggested 2,500 to 5,000-seat locations, so perhaps places like KC and Minneapolis could draw in that range. I thought about Las Vegas rather than Phoenix, but with a 35,000-enrollment university in Tempe I figured 3,000 or 4,000 wasn't unrealistic. It's fun to speculate.
