No one's yet to mention the Radio Edit, which is actually slightly remixed from the album version, rather than just a straight edit. Nice, nippy little single version, if you ask me. Short and sweet, very radio friendly.

Got both CDs, with the 12" awaiting collection at the Post Office at the weekend. The Jacques Lu Cont mix on the CD single is very club friendly, with a nice breakdown in the middle.

I was "thrilled" to be the person that submitted the two UK CD singles to the CDDB database a few moments ago, when I grabbed the tracks into Sonic Stage for uploading into my Network Walkman. So, if there's any typos when your computer accesses the CDDB for track details, it's all my fault!

Bugger getting those four dowloadable mixes. Don't want to join three different download platforms. There's bound to be some sort of "real" promo, and if not, I ain't including 128kbps tracks in my official New Order list. Can't be doing with that downloading nonsense - won't ever feel like a download is truly "part" of my record collection.

you have it all wrong... a poptastic tune like Jetstream is harder to write than you can imagine... if it were so easy to put together this type of 'crap' then anyone could do it and there would be stars everywhere making millions with pop hits... pop just gets no respect...

as a musician, i know firshand how hard it is to write a song that gets into people heads, makes them tap their feet, remember the words days later.... not an easy thing to do.

it is GOOD pop... and pop is serious art....

Little girls will invent a "Jetstream" dance - you'll see. That's the measure of a good pop song.

I really think it's amazing that New Order have come up with something so good in this genre. The song stands well on it's own - Matronic turns it into a classic.

I was as shocked as anybody when I first heard this tune but, I'll agree with Tarbox on this one... this tune is a carefully crafted pop song with a MONSTER hook in it that sinks it's teeth in and doesn't let go. It's a tune that, for better or worse, gets stuck in your brain by the end of the day. It's what a lot of musicians strive for but can never seem to get out. Is it classic New Order? Hardly, but if you listen close enough, it oozes New Order from every notes, beat, and breath. And no, I'm not talking about the obvious (Barney's singing, Hooky's bass), I'm talking about listening further into the music and uncovering something that is so familiar to the ear, yet different. Jetstream has a proper ebb and flow that leads you through it with constantly evolving sonics and a chorus who's vocals are stacked so deep and wide they seemingly have no end. The production is fantastic, the song is catchy, and the mix is perfect.

While it's perfectly fine to hate it and it may be too much "pop" for some, don't discount or belittle the opinions of those who might actually enjoy it.

Firstly i like pearl and crown, and One afternoon more so.Well done mate...but jetstream is not a good pop song,by new order or anyone.It is the shits on any level, in my humble opinion,you yourself have much better work than this lame piece.My mind was made up about Jetstream soon after i heard it in februray.It remains diabolical and poor, for new order even more so.And it was recently reviewed as sissy for christ sake,which it is.Sadly.

i get the feeling Tarbox was taking the piss but it's flown over several heads on a collision course with other piss taking comments of late.

I hated Jetstream with a passion at first but it sank in and i found myself singing it when i hadn't heard it in days. Richard X's mix (and Bakers mix) increased the drama and put Hooky right up front where he belongs. It's a pop song, nothing more. You either like it or not. I'll be buying it because i love the sleeve(s) and think the mixes are great.

Bakers mix has an interesting synth element that rules on the headphones. i love the panning guitars and ana's backing vocals are much lower in the mix. Still think Richard X's mix is the best but Bakers has improved with more listens.

damn, yer right Andy. i never listened to the edit until i read your post and it is significantly different. well, by significant i mean it's not a straight edit. it actually sounds more like what they played live than the album version. nice little treat!

I havn't brought it on release, i'll be buying it a day after though.
