J-E-T STREAM LOVERS, so, did you buy it today?

Finally received the single today. CD2 of course, got enough of those half arsed CD1s with just a couple of edits. Another reason why it didn't chart too well... If you don't know what to add, just put some fookin live tracks! It's so easy, why don't they think about it. Well, CD2 is the best I could expect from a CD with no B sides, though I have to say I can't get the U Myx program working. I get this error message:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error! Program E:\U-MYX.EXE abnormal program termination

I guess it's something missing in my Runtime Library, but which library is exactly and where can I download the missing stuff?

Anyway it's still a great single, though the video is, once again, horrible, their worst since, erm... State Of The Nation?

So what makes this a great single? Yeah, the remixes, they're all greats, each with its take of the song: Jaques Lu Cont loops some vocals (though I'd have certainly looped the J E T spelling moment, it was just born for remixes and nobody got it...) on a soft but powerful base and makes good use of Hooky's bass. Richard X starts with the drum machine of Video 586 and then basically replaces the original base with a harder and wonderful one (going from True Faith-ish to disco) keeping the surface of the song similar to the track. Tom Neville makes an excellent hard electro version of the track, good for the dancefloor, sounds a bit like Kraftwerk remixing acid house... The best remix comes from our good old mate Arthur Baker, with his splendid space techno remix, fabulous keyboards and great rhythm... gives also space to a section of Hooky's bass which virtually can't be heard on the original...

OK, got mine yesterday (the UK import) from Amazon ($.060 in NOOL's pocket, right?).

Did anyone already mention:

  1. The aformentioned "Ana Bridge Vox" is listed as "Original" and is a straight rip from the album, sound effects intro and all. Disappointing. I wanted the video mix.

  2. The audio in the u-myx segment is from the video mix! So, export a WAV file of the unmolested tracks, and you have the 3,59 "Jetstream (Video Mix)." Cool!

  3. The video quality really does blow. MPEG-4, 320 x 240, 15 fps. The streaming version looked much better, honestly.

That is all.

OK folks... I ordered this one (see below) a sec ago at Amazon.de. Don't know if it is 1 or 2. I'm a bit afraid because it is only available as UK-Import... No german release?

1.Jetstream (Jacques Lu Cont Remix - 2nd Mix) 2.Jetstream (Richard X Remix) 3.Jetstream (Tom Neville Remix) 4.Jetstream (Arthur Baker Remix) 5.Jetstream (Ana bridge vox) 6.Jetstream (Video)

I got the UK CD2, with the UMix and remixes.

Umix is fun, I'll have to make a full thing to post up on the umix server soon.

OK gang, here is my biggest complaint - this single is recorded WAY TOO HOT. It's compressed and squished to ride that "redline" - all the dynamics are killed and everything is distorted at the peaks! From a boombox or a stock car stereo it sounds fine, but if you put it in a decent audiophile rig it it unlistenable, like HORRENDOUS. Even the album version on the single is mangled way beyond the cleaner WFTSC album track. I'm very disappointed - it sounded like the worst moments of the NYC show when the crap engineer at the mixing board put everything in overdrive and made a sonic mess.

I bought it to hear the remixes and cuz it's NO.

I'm not getting my hopes up though.

yeah...since I'm in the states they wont let me buy it from the uk store...that sucks. Here I am trying to give the band/label/itunes my money and they can't figure it out.

I just noticed this on my disc (NUCDP14) today as well. Why is this? Is this a mis-print and subsequent releases were changed or what? :confused2:

So, did you upload it to the Jetstream site?

I've got two mixes there - one just trying to make a silk purse out of the radio edit, the other a DUB - which I prefer to all others at the moment. There's about 3-4 other decent mixes there & the rest aren't worth a listen - of course mine are the best:D :tank:

Actually, what is listed as the "original", isn't the album version. Same structure and length, but in the "bridge" between the second chorus and the final chorus there are some additional "Ana" vocals, or "vox" (the same as appears on the Radio Edit at the same point). Hence the alternative mix title "Ana Bridge Vox", I suppose. A very minimal difference, but I guess they decided to ditch those particular vocals for the album mix.

All very pointless.

Thanks, Andrew. I hadn't listened to Track 5 all the way through, so I didn't catch the embellished Ana vox...of course, it's listed as "Original," so what the hell does that mean? This is the original version, and they took out the Ana bridge vox for the album?

Oh, and I just downloaded the Popworld video, for which they cut the track down to three minutes and faded out the instruments at the end, leaving just the vocals. I guess that's Jetstream (Popworld Video Remix Edit).

Man, I'd effing hate to be Mr. Discography at this point.

Oh yeah, I downloaded Napster Lite :barf: to preview the exclusive remix and couldn't find it.
