Hmm, don't you think Johnny Marr should have replaced that Chris guy?

Being that Barney and Marr are such good friends, don't you think it should have been a good idea for him to invite Marr to be a member of the band, insetad of that no-name Chris guy?

Marr's guitar's would've been a PERFECT addition to Hookey's base! Songs like Krafty and Hey Joe are already good, but they could've been great with some of Marr's brilliant guitar playing.

So what I want to know is, have any of you read any comments by Barney on what his thoughts are of Marr possibly joining the group?

Has Marr said anything about wanting to be in the group?

Do you think there's a chance Spotnick could talk Barney and Hookey into kicking out Chris and initiating Marr into the group?

Do you think Marr and Gllian were seeing each other behind Steve's back?

don't know of they asked or considered this? would it be clash of the egos? New Order wants to keep their identity with the core group, and i'm sure Hooky and Steve don't want to be the backup band for Electronic either

okay... do you mean PHil? and yes Marr would've been verrry interesting, but i don't think he's a musician for hire type, he might've influenced the album - positively i'd think.

I've always liked the idea of Johnny Marr joining New Order as their guitarist. It'd free Barney up to sing and/or do keyboards. We all know he has trouble singing and playing guitar at the same time. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I don't know if Marr and Gillian were seeing each other behind Steve's back, but it might've been "Chris" and Gillian. Only Spotnick would know. ;)

I think Marr and Hooky dont fit together.

Phil has looked and listened a lot to Marr, IMO. He is playing terrific.

Marr in New Order would just be... odd; probably wrong. It would be like if Reni replaced Steve on drums, or Martin Moscrop joining to play synths.

At Coachella I was front row in front of "Phil" And he was great. He is even multi talanted. He can play Guitar and Keyboard on the same song. Unlike a former member of the band.

One of the funniest posts ever... Anyway leave the kid alone, he's a great guitarist and sounds more like Johnny than you can hear... The actual Johnny in the band would just mean Electronic with Hooky guest, but that sounds just wrong.

No, please don't give them ideas, it wouldn't be/feel right. Marr is from The Smiths and it wouldn't be right for him to become apart of New Order, it goes against all NO ethics, just wouldn't be right at all. Keep Phill in for now.

I think you are right on both counts.She always seems to be with him on tv and award shows even tho she is not playing.I think its safe to say they love each other dearly....Kinda makes you wonder why she does'nt get up and play on these shows tho???????

Go get yourself the recent Sound on Sound magazine.

It has an full indepth inteview with Stephen Hague on the making of True Faith & 1963. He descibes Gillian's role as quietly sitting in the back observing what went on. He said to her tomorrow we'll do the synth. She said ok. He was most impressed when she presented him with fully formed synth melodies, having expected to having to do alot of work.

So please stop belitteling her contributions.

That would be weird because they've been friends much before than working together, they even went on holidays together... I don't know, of course things may change, but Johnny looks like a faithful person, he's always been with the same girl since 13 years old... (though he sacked Moz from The Smiths, so you can never say)
