Singles Box Set

What happened to this? Do you think it should be released exactly like the original singles?

I think they could release all the versions of each song in one CD and use the original sleeve. SO Round & Round would be one CD instead of two like the orignals.

of course, it seemed like an excellent idea at the time,because a lot of their early sigles/B-sides were never available on CD, but London Records released Best Of / Rest Of instead, which is NO WAY to chronicle New Order's ongoing career is it? Looks as if the opportunity has been well and truely pissed away. Sad isn't it?

Here Here!, the more material the merrier i say! How about htis for a controversial suggestion and get a tribute album recorded. Duran Duran and Led Zepplin has had this done in Australia and they are quite good, expecially seeing how people reinterpret songs. It is also better if they do covers of songs that were not singles, also saves listening to the same songs repeatedly

I was actaully in the works of forming a JD tribute band but couldnt find anyone willing to do Ians dead fly dance so it never happened

i think the idea of a heart and soul type box would be better all singels all album tracks and demos etc it would be a fuking big box but i think it would be worth it

New Order should do what the Pet Shop Boys did: re-release every single album with a bonus cd containing the different single remixes, b-sides and outtakes of that period. I'd buy every single album again!

off topic i know but does anyone know of an electronic 12" called "solar flare"? i've seen for sale on a couple of online stores but have never heard of it before.dont wanna shell out for it in case its a new version of disaapointed or something..

I think maybe they could just release all the singles again in CD format. so you could buy that one you don't have or that one you've got but is in Vinyl format.

Here's how I think it should look. Face it, this is a brilliant opportunity for any major label to bring out a comprehensive box set of CD reissues containing all the Factory releases that were (largely)never issued on CD format. Knowing the current record co's apathy, this may seem like pissing in the wind, but sod it, in an ideal world, this is what we should expect:

All CDs in miniaturised card covers with inner sleevs and not one crappy jewel box in sight.

CD one: CEREMONY Outer Sleeve: the 7" gold embossed design Inner Sleeve: the green 12" design on one side/blue and white 12" design on flip tracks: Ceremony (original "green" mix)/In A Lonely Place (original mix)/Ceremony (rerecorded "blue/white"mix)/ In A Lonely Place (rerecorded mix)

There! I think that's all the Factory releases gathered together then. The outer box would of tough laminated construction and flip top lid and consist of a nice wrap-around montage of all the sleeves merged into one another. Perhaps a booklet be inserted inside but hopefully WITHOUT any text from Paul Morley. Retail price? Look at around £45-50. I think that sounds just perfect. What do you think?

And once they've done that, they can rerelease strictly limited edition similarly card-sleeved versions of their six Factory albums as well - remastered and with any extra tracks or versions that should be included ("Paradise - Australian remix", and "Evil Dust" - spring to mind). God- we're clearly expecting the world at this rate, aren't we??!!

Sounds fantastic. Can you just print that out and send it to Pete Tong? Maybe if we all start emailing him (i bet we can get his address) he'll get the message. Better yet, one nicely worded message with Hubert's layout. Of course, they would find a way to f#@k it up.

But there may be some gaps there - I'm sure the original Factory 3" CD of Fine Time has a different listing, ditto the 5" CD issue of Touched By The Hand Of God - neither of which I have anyway. By the way - on a completely different matter but still NO related - I finally got hold of that elusive New Order track "BRUTAL" as featured on the soundtrack to "The Beach" - can't believe my luck when I found it in a local shop in Middlesbrough today - priced only £1.99 !!! (Brand new copy as well!) So - Bargain of the week then! :) Whizzed it home, stuck it in CD player straight to track 12, and finally got an earful of it - very similar to Get Ready's tracks in sound (producer Rollo but also assisted by 140 db/Steve osbourne) so I can now understand why some of you wished to have it included in your preferred track listings of GR. Some other good tracks on it too - notably Barry adamson, Orbital, Faithless and ADF. Never saw the film though, mind - don't like Leornado Di Caprio.

Wow, 'Bertie, that's impressive - now if only it became a reality....? This whole "BoxSet or No BoxSet?" saga has gone on long enough now for it to warrant a reassessement in my opinion....it's criminal that while so many other acts are getting their stuff reissued to death (like with The Pet Shop Boys albums recently) a band like New Order cannot secure enough support for a retrospective collection such as this to even get off the drawing board. Honestly, how short sighted can some people be? :(

That and the singles post were a Huntsmanesque critique, I think you'll all agree ;)

Perhaps now that technology has moved on a little we should include the videos as well on a DVD. All the singles on seperate CD's with the original artwork and a DVD with the vids and maybe some live stuff.

I've given this very important topic some add'l thought. I'd love to see the band be as thorough as the PSB and Erasure were on their "recent" re-releases, but seeing as how important the cover art is to each individual NO single, my preference would be to have a box set that contains each single with the original artwork. Similar to what Mozzer has done (embarrassingly, more than once).

Having said that, I wouldn't want the label to feel obligated to only include the tracks that were originally on each single - let's finally have some bonus tracks to cherish (and plenty of them).

I don't understand why some people doesn't like world in Motion. for someone like me, from another country, the song sounds very nice. Maybe the lyrics are like "Sunkist Thing", I mean like a jingle and not a song. Is it how you feel in UK?
