The singing in the shower subject gave me an idea. which song would you want to be playing in the back ground if you got into a fight? For our purposes lets just say there is a dj at the fight taking requests before you go at it. I would probably pick something like crystal or broken promise, i guess i would want some guitary, high energy stuff.

Although i totally reject this topic, i hate fighting,but in case there is no escaping it...it has got to be Blue Monday.."How does it feel"

Would have to agree that MURDER would be the backing track for a potential rumble. But if i could choose a JD song it would definately be Dead Souls (I love the rage in the line, They keep callin' me) and Shadow Play, two songs made for fighting in the streets!
First choice would be Blue Monday, and second choice would be Angel Dust ("I will send you falling slowly to the earth I see before me")
Actually, I could have been that DJ yesterday to the fight club across the street, if only this topic had been here yesterday. Pulling into my driveway, I noticed that there were quite a few more cars parked on the side of the street, and on the open lot across from my house, there were a bunch of people standing around. Took me a second to see that there were a couple of combatants eyeing each other warily. Of course, they were wearing boxing gloves, but since I didn't have time to dawdle at home, I just wondered about the fact that the cops are never around when you need them, for this group was composed of teens from the local high school.
Well, Murder & Rock The Shack would be pretty obvious.
But let's make it more interesting. Imagine the fight takes place in a movie. Wouldn't be an interesting contrast to have "Avalanche" playing ?
Naaahh...sod New Order. It has to be only one band. Nine Inch Nails. (and so many wonderfully vicious songs to choose from as well....) Think of the hideous violence in the film "Hellraiser"...now translate that to its musical equivalent... thus: March Of The Pigs, Mr Self Destruct, Wish, Happiness In Slavery, Big Man with a Gun, Burn, Eraser, Suck, Screaming Slave, Fistfuck, Starfuckers...I could go on....!
Face-Up for me (although i've never been in a fight and i beleve humans should Never fight with each other). "Oh, how i cannot bear the thought of you" and "Guess what i'm gonna do to you"...if the words don't scare them off, the horribly off-key vocal will make them turn and run.
about NIN...I've met Trent Reznor and had him show me around his studio in NewOrleans. Pretty Hate Machine was good and at the time i really enjoyed listening to it BUT since then, he's kept the themes of violence towards women and general hatred for others consistant even though he has what most would consider a wonderful life. The shit he says is so ridiculous that even he doesn't believe it. He is a fairly happy, nice guy who is purposefully writing the most contrived bullshit in order to reach a market of unhappy teenage boys. What message do those boys receive? Treat women like animals? Total Bullshit. This guy may make interesting beats but he's spouting absolute nonsense in order to cash in on pathetic, angry men. Except you of course.

Yep, Agreed Geaux (do you pronounce that" Joe" by the way?) your first point about Barney's singing in"Face Up" was very funny (made me laugh aloud!) On the issue of NIN I agree that he has this lyrical muse that borders on the misanthropic/mysogynistic (the lyrics to Closer are terrible in fact) and it does make him sound like a one-trick pony, but he's good at manipulating noise/the studio so I guess that only is where my admiration lies . His lyrics ARE navel-gazing in the extreme as to be ocassionally embarrassing. (in a totally different way from Barney's of course!). As for contrived bullshit to reach the teeny masses - yep, he IS responsible in his influence and of course he's as guilty as the other noise/angstmongers (yer Kurts and yer Eddies and yer Billys...), but as we now know, his crown has been well and truly usurped by the likes of his cohort Marilyn Manson and of course the even more laughably loathsome Nu-Metal bullshit (spit) with yer Slipknots, Linkin Parks and Limp Dikkiez of this world with their even more infantile raging tantrums set to dull samey watered-down metal-thrash music - fuck, THEIR aimless rantings make Mr Reznor's previously self-centred hollerings sound positively dignified!!! Gosh - you met Trent Reznor, Geaux......I'm kinda jealous.....always wanted to do likewise just to see what makes his mind tick like that!! He's a talented guy, for sure, that we'll have to grudgingly admit....

He's a nice guy but i do not respect him as an artist. He used to come in to the restaurant i worked at and that's how i met him. His studio was a few blocks away and i just went by, rang the buzzer and said "I've brought a mix i did over for Trent, is he in"...seconds later he opend the door (there's a camara in the doorway) and let me and my friend in. His studio was fucking nice with multiple workstations, huge mixing desk and guitars circling the whole room. I think jack dangers was in the studio that day. Either him or the cat from PWEI (cant remember). He has a sweet set-up in Neworleans, drives nice cars and has big parties where 15year old girls will do anything he says. What he's done with his fame is disgraceful and i cannot listen to his music. The last thing i liked was Spacetime Continuum's remix of Perfect Drug.

It was good he picked up PWEI though, some of their best work was done when they switched labels like Dos Deidos Me Amigos/Two Fingers My Friends
I second that - being a massive Industrial music fan myself, though what G.H. said about Reznor's less than approachable "artist" persona does have a grain of truth about it. I've heard/read of of other accounts that have been in a similarly dismissive vein, about what being a successful rock star can do to your psyche and all that bullshit. But what the fuck - I still like his music. I mean, The Revolting Cocks were hardly the most PC band in the world but they made me fucking laugh and that's what's important.
