Hello People, I have just received a text message on my mobile phone directly from Allen Jarvis in Austrailia. ... in summary he said...

"USA dates deffo OFF. Band had a meeting last night to decide.

Hooky has put on 2 stone, as had Phil C (must be the bad influence)

Set list was almost idential except the did Isolation for an encore. Quite boring really....

In gerenal a very disappointing gig... but the beer and banter are good"

Actually, I was thinking they should take a break from the touring. Returning to the US at this point would be self-abusive for our lads. Touring the States is what made Barney crack in the first place right? Plus, we may get a new set of songs for their next trip across the pond (the polluted, stanky pond). Good Luck to NewOrder on the rest of their Aussie tour and may 2002 bring us another great NewOrder album. That reminds me, does anyone know/think neworder are writing new material while on tour?

I reckon if they had any (or a bit more) interest in their fans, they'd know about this great website and could have read all about our wishes and complaints! At least they could have altered the setlists a bit, that seems to be the most wanted thing!!

Brian - in a recent(ish) interview with Hooky in a very poor local music mag called Juice, he alluded to the 'return to the studio' post Chem Bros collaboration, around Dec 2002. Could be bollocks, but if it's true and all goes well, we might get another NO album around 2005.... CTD

Not unexpected news concerning the possible US tour dates, and at this point in their career, I can't imagine them writing songs on the road. Still a bit of a bummmer today though.:(

Saw a interview in some dance music mag where one of the chemical brothers (the tall skinny ex long hair gimpy one I think) said they'd just spent the week in the studio with NO...so that collab may happen in the next few months.

The problem is that New Order recieved NO promotion for the new album ( at least here) . It really blows. Nobody but NO fans knew that there was new product to be had.

There were no posters in record stores, there were no ads on the radio, there wasn't jack squat.

And, as much as I DESPISE mtv, they should have made some sort of appearance (or at least VH1. Heck, that's the age demo that listens to NO).

Plus, there was no appearance on late night television. T7 has been all over this and he's right.

Michael, I completely agree. The "promotion" of GR in the U.S. was nonexistent.

Well...I'm going out on a limb here...but I'd be willing to bet that they sold more units here than in, oh, I don't know, Australia, Germany, France or Sweden...and the order did go to all of these countries after the release of GR, not before...and if they really want to sell lots of copies of GR...all they have to do is release Turn My Way, and appear in a video with Mr. Corgan, and the fooking thing would do quite well...

Jeff, I imagine you're right that GR sold more copies in the U.S. than in Australia, say. But the total population of Australia is like 10 million? And the population of the U.S. is what, 250 million? I have no doubt that on a pro-rata basis, sales were higher there. And it sounds like they actually played GR on the radio there, unlike the U.S.

I totally agree that TMW should be released as a single here. But it hasn't been.

I just have this feeling that their old hatred of touring has resurfaced, and that they are fulfilling contractual obligations and no more. I hope I'm wrong, because as I say, I was looking forward to seeing them in the States, as much for the crowd reaction as anything.

You'd be surprised at how popular NO are here. I never knew their were so much fans until now. GR got to #6 in the charts which is higher than the US and the same as the UK and that was with little promotion. Had NO toured at the same time as the album release it would easily of made the top 3.

I don't know what the americans are complaining about. At least NO had toured there in the last 15 years. Give us Aussies a break as we deserve to see them live as well. And that is a privelige i am working hard at. I will be at 2 of their concerts but 2 chances to see them in 15 years. How many concerts did they play in America in this time?

I have to say that I too am deeply saddened by their decision. I can't say that I am not lucky because I did get the chance to see them in August in the Area One Festival. My experience there outweighed anything I could see otherwise.

I do hope someday they do come back and see us again, I am sure they could sell enough tickets atleast in LA to fill up a stadium. Who knows....

I'm just thankful I got to see NO live once, as Get Ready could be the last album, and when Temptaion was live and Barney said "Oh it's the last time" I sorta felt, yeah it could be the last NO concert in Sydney, I'm really lucky I got to see them.

Sorry, I'm not saying US fans should miss out, especially the US fans who have yet to see NO live ... man I'm still hoping Bowie will come to Sydney ... but you lucky Americans go to Carnegie(?) Hall in New York in Feburary if you can, because Bowie is playing as part of something, I dunno, go to Bowie.com if you want. (I know this isn't BowieOnline.com, just had to make sure any Bowie fans here in the US could cheer up and see another great artist) ;)

Bowie, eh? So you're a Bowie fan....just curious, which Bowie's incarnation do you like? Davy Jones, Alladdin Sane, Ziggy, Thin W Duke, etc.....

Whoa, I'm not that much of a fan yet ;) ... I'm still fairly new to Bowie but he along with NO are the only two artists I'd go see since The Doors are no more, as are Guns N' Roses, and Oasis.

I'm more of a Bowie-Newbie than I am an NO-Newbie ... but the song that got me hooked, was Space Oddity.

I also love every song on ChangesBowie, and would buy more CD's ... but I'm still waiting to win Lotto ... how life taunts me!

But I really like that film clip which is like a short film called "Jazzing for Blue Jean", Rage played it a while back, it was really great ... I like film clips that are treated like Short Films. ;)

That's an urban myth that Angie told to GERALDO RIVERA, of all people(or maybe it was Donahue, my memory fails me sometimes), with HOWARD STERN in the next seat over yukking it up. In other words, I'd take that one with a grain of salt, but it could very well have come to pass (no pun intended) :D
