Message from Jarvo in Oz

I just have this feeling that their old hatred of touring has resurfaced, and that they are fulfilling contractual obligations and no more. I hope I'm wrong, because as I say, I was looking forward to seeing them in the States, as much for the crowd reaction as anything.

You'd be surprised at how popular NO are here. I never knew their were so much fans until now. GR got to #6 in the charts which is higher than the US and the same as the UK and that was with little promotion. Had NO toured at the same time as the album release it would easily of made the top 3.

I don't know what the americans are complaining about. At least NO had toured there in the last 15 years. Give us Aussies a break as we deserve to see them live as well. And that is a privelige i am working hard at. I will be at 2 of their concerts but 2 chances to see them in 15 years. How many concerts did they play in America in this time?

I have to say that I too am deeply saddened by their decision. I can't say that I am not lucky because I did get the chance to see them in August in the Area One Festival. My experience there outweighed anything I could see otherwise.

I do hope someday they do come back and see us again, I am sure they could sell enough tickets atleast in LA to fill up a stadium. Who knows....

Isn't this the way with nearly all British artists though?

Like David Bowie, did he go to the US alot?

I'm just thankful I got to see NO live once, as Get Ready could be the last album, and when Temptaion was live and Barney said "Oh it's the last time" I sorta felt, yeah it could be the last NO concert in Sydney, I'm really lucky I got to see them.

Sorry, I'm not saying US fans should miss out, especially the US fans who have yet to see NO live ... man I'm still hoping Bowie will come to Sydney ... but you lucky Americans go to Carnegie(?) Hall in New York in Feburary if you can, because Bowie is playing as part of something, I dunno, go to Bowie.com if you want. (I know this isn't BowieOnline.com, just had to make sure any Bowie fans here in the US could cheer up and see another great artist) ;)

It's Saturday arvo here now, and according to Shugz'ies pissed post, he had a good ol' Friday night ... great. ;)

Bowie, eh? So you're a Bowie fan....just curious, which Bowie's incarnation do you like? Davy Jones, Alladdin Sane, Ziggy, Thin W Duke, etc.....

Whoa, I'm not that much of a fan yet ;) ... I'm still fairly new to Bowie but he along with NO are the only two artists I'd go see since The Doors are no more, as are Guns N' Roses, and Oasis.

I'm more of a Bowie-Newbie than I am an NO-Newbie ... but the song that got me hooked, was Space Oddity.

I also love every song on ChangesBowie, and would buy more CD's ... but I'm still waiting to win Lotto ... how life taunts me!

But I really like that film clip which is like a short film called "Jazzing for Blue Jean", Rage played it a while back, it was really great ... I like film clips that are treated like Short Films. ;)

Sorry, Chris........I think most Bowie fans would consider the 'Blue Jeans' period to be the 'artistically-bankrupt' period in Davy's career....together with 'Glass Spiders' time....

Yeah I've heard that ... that's around the time of "China Girl" isn't it? Apparently Bowie considers that track his careers low-point.

Everything you need to know about David Bowie:

He started out as a Mod-psychedelic (See "Laughing Gnome"), and was a huge fan of the Syd Barrett-led Pink Floyd

He picked up on glam from Marc Bolan, then went on to popularize it with his ambigious "Ziggy" faze, leaving Bolan behind.

He was probably as big as the Beatles in the Uk from 1972-on, but a virtual nonentity until 1974-5 in the US, when he hit big with Fame (cowritten with John Lennon, who knew a thing or two about the subject). He was one of the few white artists to perform on Soul Train, and afterwards recorded one of my favorite songs ever, Young Americans.

He entered his thin white duke faze with Station To Station, and followed it with his best albums (Low, Lodger, and "Heroes", all essential buys)

His career's been in the toilet artistically since the Let's Dance phase, with very little coming close to his 70's heyday.

Buy anything from '68-80, but avoid post 83, unless you enjoy such guilty pleasures

What abou the fact that he was caught in bed with Mick Jagger by his ex-wife, Angela? Apparently he was a big fan of the Rolling Stones, too. ;)

That's an urban myth that Angie told to GERALDO RIVERA, of all people(or maybe it was Donahue, my memory fails me sometimes), with HOWARD STERN in the next seat over yukking it up. In other words, I'd take that one with a grain of salt, but it could very well have come to pass (no pun intended) :D
