I was not at this gig and don't have the original negative, but someone sent me this photo about 20 years ago. I think it's a beauty and judging by the amount of sweat on Steve, must have been towards the end of the set. My guess is Blue Monday or 586 seeing as he is not on the drums. According to the song browser, Blue Monday was first debuted Palais Theatre, Melbourne, Victoria (AU) Thu, Nov 25 1982. This was only two weeks after that. Could be one of the first photos of Blue Monday live if my guess about Blue Monday/586 is on the mark. Not sure if Steve played keyboards on 586? Don't think so.

Will post the other Galaxy gig photos from 1987 when I get a chance to scan them.

Set list: Your Silent Face, Temptation, Dreams Never End, The Him, Leave Me Alone, In A Lonely Place, Hurt, Denial, Age of Consent, Blue Monday, 586.

I guess the problem is he's trying to link just the image from a Yahoo! account. You better link the webpage showing the picture simply copying the URL appearing on the address bar of your browser. We'll see the picture checking that page.

Mick, you made me! You've got 1090 posts and I've barely made 1000 by now.

Sorry guys, link now corrected. I had tested it but it was picking up my cache.

Thanks! :thumb: But the picture is too small :)

What song is he playing actually??? Do you remember?

he stated that he thinks it's blue monday.

jesus, that's some heavy equipment to carry about.

Judging by the soggy t-shirt, Steve's been giving it some serious skin-bashing, and the two songs immediately before Blue Monday were Age of Consent and Denial, both of which would make him work up a sweat.......of course it could be 586, but nothing else played that night would see Steve triggering sequences rather than drumming. KW1 saw him drumming in the early days.

The Him? (I always confuse it with Senses)

Steve drums in The Him. The only song from Movement that he didn't drum on was Truth.

Ah ok... that's what I confused with. Hm.. To be honest, I'd love Steve to use more sequencers than real drums.

He does these days.

Great set list. Anyone have a recording of this gig?

Great performance with my all-time favorite performances of Denial and 586. Blue Monday is essentially perfected at this point, the sequencing is identical to the recorded version except the fact that it sounds like they're playing all off it off Commodore64 MIDI chips.

Unless they've recently renovated, dimeadozen.org should have a full torrent of it in .FLAC format. I also have MP3s of the set for carrying around on the mp3 player, but quality is more or less crap except for 586.

There are at least two different recordings of this gig, which is notable for the false start to Your Silent Face and a very long encore of 586 (at least 16 mins long!).

Sounds incredible. I must have it. From where/whom could I get this? Do you know if that is the one on Dimeadozen, perchance? Thanks! :thumb:

I was at the gig in this photo, it was actually 6th Dec 1982. NO played 2 gigs, one on the 6th which was packed, hence the sweaty looks, and a second on the 8th which was virtually empty, 40-50 people as I recall. Blue Monday was played only on the 8th so this song playing would be 586.

I have some more photos from this gig somewhere, I'll have a hunt.

Note - There never was a gig in Christchurch, it was cancelled and played in Wellington, aparently without advertising the fact.

Adam you are a star! We've been trying to work out what had happened with these two gigs for over 20 years! Did they definitely finish with 586 both nights then?

I have a tape of both nights in Wgtn and it's 586, but the 8th is obviously longer. The 2 gigs in Auckland finished with 586 & temptation too. No Blue Monday until the last date.

I found my pictures from 6/12/1982 and i'm wrong. the Steve Morris Pic is from the 8th in 586, he's got a nice white shirt on on the 6th. No sweat.....

Two gigs in Auckland as well? We thought that had always been a typo, as there was only ever one recording, and Conway Paton only remembered there being one Auckland show in 82.

That Auckland recording was probably from me, I traded it quite a bit many years ago. I recorded the Auckland gig on 3rd Dec 1982 but not the 4th.

I recall the set list was something like:

ICB Ceremony In A Lonely Place We All Stand Hurt Denial Dreams Never End 586 Temptation
