San Francisco: Mezzanine and Stussy San Francisco in conjunction with Stussy World Tribe present the Stussy store five-year anniversary and Stussy Brands World Wide 25th anniversary celebration on Friday, October 28th with special guest dj, Peter Hook [Joy Division/New Order]. Come celebrate what will go down as one of the best anniversary parties the city will see!
What started as Shawn Stussy screen printing his scrawled signature onto t-shirts to sell alongside surfboards back in Long Beach, California in 1980, would soon become one of the most stylish and reputable clothing lines in the country. Stussy made its mark by making its products and brand tangible to the masses, including surfers, skaters, djs, artists, and musicians. Now with a more refined and classic style, pooled from different sections of a burgeoning international underground culture, Stussy’s collection has grown from t-shirts to complete men’s and women’s collections. With chapter stores in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, and Japan, Stussy has a strong global presence. From skate to surf, reggae to hip hop, electronica to preppy, surplus to everyone in between, Stussy is still livin' XL after 25 years.
If that history wasn’t enough for you, then how does New Order and Joy Division’s very own Peter Hook sound? Performing his renowned dj set, electronic music and bassist legend, Peter Hook is coming to San Francisco as part of his 48 Hour Party People DJ Tour to help celebrate. Known for being one of few rock n’ roll djs to actually be able to match beats, this will be his first stop on the west coast leg of his tour, and no doubt, his best.
Opening the show are two very well known people around town. Simon Colley, found of Chapter 3 Recordins, Tuff Tone and Dub Shack will be manning the decks for the first part of the evening, as San Francisco’s very favorite dj, Omar of Popscene, will be djing the second part of the night, before Peter Hook hits the wheels of steel.
