What a fucking day!

In the end we threw our train tickets in the bin, cos we wouldnae have had time to catch the last train, which meant Lorraine had to stay sober and drive us home......but it was well worth it.

I will have a go at naming the Viking Hordes who were in attendance. The Hac, Jarvo, Gina, Wolfram, Nick King, The G-Man, Johnny Giles, DoN, Ness, Greg, Uncle Liam, Colin Torr, Dave Legge, Craig Digitalwaters, Barney Army, Mr & Mrs Milky, Warren & Will Re:Order, Jim Reilly Jim Reilly, Timbo, Chris Nash & his missus, Neil, Helen, Pablo and Matty the Motherwell fan, ATR, John & Christine, Jeanette, Gordy, Mike, John & Lorraine, Mr & Mrs Shug, MARIO, Midnight Blue, Old Blue, True Blue, Jarvo's wee sis and the Dundee Utd fan husband.....I'm sure there were more, but I am still very very drunk, so they will have to tell you about it

A few of us took pictures, so expect a few being posted in the next few days. Absolutely great craic in the pub, with several New Or-Dah chants ringing round. Also had a phonecall from the Rocket who wished us all the best and a text message saying we were in for a Joy Division only set.

Wandered down to the venue about 9ish, very drunk, but in time to get to the bar for another beer and nearly get thrown out for continually smoking after being warned by the bouncer not to. We were sat in the same row as Colin, Liam, Digitalwaters, to be honest we were far too pissed to go down and join several of the other mad bastards when New Order came on. Looked like there was a mini mosh pit right in front of Hooky, so Sarge had his work cut out

Set list was Transmission, She's Lost Control, LWTUA, Atmosphere and WARSAW!!!!!!

Getting to see New Order in such a small wee venue was amazing, but to hear Warsaw live was just unbelieveable, there were several rumours floating around the pub that we were gonna get it - but to actually hear it, fook me! And Hooky had "God Has A DJ" sprayed onto his amps

Absolutely brilliant day, and great to catch up with all the usual suspects and even better to meet more faces who I'd not met before, Chris Nash, Colin Torr, True Blue, DigitalWaters, Pablo and a special shout out to our very own Mario Brother, who had travelled over from Belgium for the gig.

Also met Fergal Sharkey after the gig, but all I can remember was asking him if he was a Celtic fan, cannae even remember his answer! Oh, and the missus heard a rumour that "a few of them Neworder Onliners got kicked out" can any clarify this?

Last but not least, a very special shout out to Al, who forked out nearly 200 notes for the new Vikings badges with John Peel RIP

Can't wait to see you all again

It was great to meet up with you all.

Many many thanks to Al for the special Peel Vikings pins!

I tried to get down to the mosh zone, but security weren't having it... I bet the hall has never seen a group of people so determined to mosh it up- a fantastic site!

Saw The Fall and The Venetian whatevers in between visits to the watering hole... Everyone was sat politely nodding their heads and tapping their toes throughout, but when The Order came on everyone stood up and stayed stood up!

Maximum respect to New Order for doing an all JD set- I never ever thought I would see Warsaw live- INCREDIBLE!

  1. I've never enjoyed being in a pub so much without boozing much!

  2. It's sounds corny but I never thought I'd ever see Joy Division live. Shadowplay & Warsaw made this gig a one off.

  3. Everyone I met from this site is fookin top, best bunch of people on earth.

PS What the fook was William Shatner doing in the pub?

Niel, we were wrong. Johnny Ball is alive and kicking.

Wasn't a bad night, was it? I just got up, several hangovers and no voice, but happy at the memories of a night that will go down as being very special indeed in the overall JD/NO history. Can't believe they did Shadowplay and Warsaw!

Forgot to say - great to meet up with so many NOOLers old and new again!

How many kids has Hooky spawned? Every other gig seems to be the birthday of one or other of them! I think he said Jessica was 7 yesterday. I'm sure she enjoyed the JD set as much as my 8 year old son.

Seeing them play Shadowplay was the highlight of a fantastic night (having survived the noise-terror of Venetian Snares). This was the first song I ever saw JD play live, at a soundcheck, and cemented this un-ending passion.

Favourite compere was Delia - 'Lesh be 'avin yer!'

Didn't get a Digital flyer though.

Sounds like amazing stuff. More than a bit dissapointed with the whinging git quoted over in the other forum moaning about the New Order brigade being a bit lairy. As if John "irreverence" Peel would have wanted some quiet sit-down affair?!!?!!?

Wish I'd been there.

I have to own up to being the bloke who sent the text (to my good friend Chris Nash and his lady Tricia) regarding it being a Joy Division only set.

I'd heard earlier that there'd be a brief bit on the local news with the chaps so hung around and, lo and behold, Hooky divulged that it was a JD experience so I texted Chris right away.

It sounds like a top night was had. Shadowplay and Warsaw? Blimey, when was the last time they had an live outing? If anyone is having any thoughts towards a boot CD of this, I'd be up for a copy!

Cheers and Chris: your Kilkenny 83 tape and WFTSC mixes CD are now ready.

Only downer on the night was that over-zealous security guard with the tattoo on his neck, who turned up from nowhere at the front and started laying into people with "come on then you cunts, you want it". He twatted at least four people that I saw. Containment wasn't his way of doing things!

So did anyone from the site get kicked out then or twatted as Tim says? Just had a phonecall from DoN who says Mario was down the front and shaking Barney's hand. Top bloke our Mario!

Oh, nearly forgot, a big thanks to Nick King for the Slipcase and singles AND 5 track CD. Fuckin brilliant mate - I have the CD blaring away now.
