Notes from Warner US:

We are shipping our third single "Guilt Is A Useless Emotion" to clubs this week. The track was produced by Stuart Price who also worked on the upcoming Madonna album.

We will release two digital maxi singles in the US on 11/29.

Well, after a release on 7", now we have a digital ONLY release... :evil4:

They know how to do money, do they? ;)

But I can assure you, promo CDs do exist as I should be getting some.

Why on earth are they offering edited mixes for digital download? Is Warner's really that cheap with bandwidth? What's the point of offering different packages to DJs and everybody else -- and how the heck does one get the DJ set?

I'm not whinging here, I just don't see the logic. 7" vinyl has a nostalgia and collectibility factor, which doesn't apply to digital downoads. Edited mixes make sense on the British CD singles, since the UK chart rules are so strict, but the U.S. has never needed to worry about that,

Well, it's about time. I think this is the best song on the album and should've been released as a first single. A perfect dance track.

Aha.... so the tracklisting for the US edition of SINGLEs may be different - with inclusion of GIAUE ;)

Anyway, let's see the cover art :) Oops... I forgot it's a digital (what the heck is that? :scratch: ) release...

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if there were promo 12" (as they said they were sent to DJs) and promo CDs (as they said they would send it to me)

But I'll investigate further.

For me, this should have been released instead of Jetstream, no question there... but I guess the guest vocalist forced the label's decision.

I'm a little disappointed though, I thought they would include some WFTSC remixes on there.

Well, like it or not, this prooves New Order are indeed pioneers.

I'm quite sure this will be soon the only way music will be released!

Funny thing is... 3rd single in the UK was on 7", and in the USA it's in digital format.. means, we have Retro and Future mixed together.. :lol:

I just hope people will buy it, this might help to get more interesting releases. However, I don't know if the non-techies have it easy to buy songs online.. :scratch:

From a collector's/completist's perspective, this is crap news.

The slow death of physical music formats is ruining the magic of the collector's shelf. It's just not the same admiring a music collection on someone's hard disc.

Furthermore, the price of any official CD-Rs and promo 12"s will go through the roof on eBay.

Perhaps we (NOOL) should collectively create some artwork for the Guilt remixes and furnish an insert for the CD-Rs that we'll inevitably end up with?

Sounds like a worthy time to start a radio campaign to get them rotated heavier on the stations around here. Though, I think Turn would do far better in this market, just with the younger folks being into what they are into around here.

Can you tell me how all this works then?I only have a SAMSUNG 500 and this will look pretty DAFT sat next to 36 FAC 53s in a PLASTIC WALLET.Marigolds needed for the downloading.Is their NOISE POLLUTION? Please help ROCKET-i only just got used to WORKING! :scratch:

HURAH! Guilt finally gets a release (of sorts)...

We'd better be able to burn it following download. I downloaded Electronic's 'King For a Day' last year- then discovered I couldn't burn it!

If I can't burn GUILT I will cry cry cry cry!

Good idea from depthcharge about doing our own cover art!

Hi,

Sounds interesting. However, in my part of the world (Canada, Province of Quebec, not to name it), it's not, or rarely possible to have access to such kind of CD's, except if it happen to be a huge success on the radio... Is it planned to make it available through the internet site? And, for not being a DJ, I would had liked to be able to have access to the DJ Version in addition to the consumer's one. Will it be possible also?

I agree! *throws tomatos at WB* Furthermore, mp3s are not the same quality as CDs.

The WFTSC promo mixes have shown up on the net, and so will these. I'm boycotting this stupid idea and downloading the mixes for free. If the record label doesn't like it, they should release a damn CD!!!

It IS VERY CRAP NEWS for those of us who can only JUST afford a shitty dial-up link which takes a million years to download even the shortest edit. Sorry, as said before, some things DO matter more than music and this is a very sad way for Warner to treat genuine fans of this, I'm very sad to admit, once truly groundbreaking band who have allowed this travesty to take place. Another cheapass attempt by Warner to cut costs no matter what the cost to bands on it's roster. :cry:

I don't understand digital releases. Not only can younger people not get them but I takes the ritual out of buying music which I personally enjoy. Wheres the cover art? The packaging? The printed disc? You just have files on your computer that may or may not burn and I dont take my computer everywhere or play music music from it. Its the stupidest idea ever and I cant believe it has taken off. I hate it, hate it, hate it. We'll be losing all our great CD and record stores soon because they can't compete with this ridiculous trend.

I would think NO would aggree here but obviously not. I'll be livid if this catches on, I really will.

Interesting news - of course it is a class track but the digital only format does put collectors in a fix.

It looks like we do all the job for Warner Brs lately: we ourselves burn CD-Rs to record tracks off WFTSC 7"s, now we're going to do so with this "digital" single.

Not entirely true though, I think I manage to do pretty well even though I'm from Quebec too ;)

But it's true that no single has been released in Canada this year...

out sick today. and NO, it's not because of any 'festivities.' i have a habit of getting sick on my birthday. last year my birthday fell on election day--black tuesday--and i was at home with my nose in a tissue and my eyes watering (for two separate reasons, of course).

We will be putting out the sirens call mixes in the near future. Just don't have a plan yet.

My question is:

Are we "the fans" going to have the possibility of ever owning all these remixes of all these songs on CDs (as I'm sure the vast majority would like them) legally, or without having to spend tons of cash on e-bay (cash that is going into the pockets of people who I'm sure the band didn't intend to)???

Totally agree DC :nonono: I'm currently conducting an experiment with my bank account titled "Just how much of a shafting can a Student account with a meager overdraft facility take?" Will post results after my forthcoming attempts to gain a promo CDR of Guilt.. :cry:

The least Warners could have done was release a Maxi-CD as with Krafty and Jetstream... c*nts. Digital 128kbps AAC files suck big time when it comes to quality, watery treble with no fucking imaging worth speaking of.

Either way, unless I get it on CD-R I won't be hearing this. Takes me the same time to download anything that Saville takes on his sleeves! It's an interesting idea, but still I really hope they don't make this their usual way of releasing music :thumbdown:
