Not only does he own a tank, but despite keeping up a smoking habit for the 30-odd years, he looks almost exactly the same as he did in Joy Division. A modern marvel. ;)

I put it down to the formaldehyde in the ciggies; just look at Keef from the Stones- take away his fags and he would have ceased to exist years ago considering the other crap he's put his body through. Steve lives on a farm and I suppose the country air(and being in a stable relationship/marriage with Gillian for all these years)also counteracts the other none-too-great side effects of oily rags.

I think he's the stablizing factor within NO.
Did you notice him acting like daddy at the Hall of Fame, waiting at the podium until Barney had finished speaking making sure he didn't say anything stupid & that Barney wouldn't get lost on his way to stage? Ah, Bless.
