I've not listened to it for aaaaages, so could well be wrong, but sn't it an instrumental?
Therefore it's just a title that makes it a tribute - not going to happen.
Not very keen on it myself.
Who's knows thou'... it could be a BSide to the release stated on the BBC site...?
Then again... we all know it won't... just a nice idea: NO seem big on them at the moment.
Shouldn't proceeds from the re-release go to some charity or drugs and alcohol awareness/rehab programs than to a memorial for a pratt who killed himself through hard living?
They won't re-release Best & Marsh.
In my opinion it's an aimless instrumental, you can see why they consigned it to Round & Round's b-side. The piano and in particular the drum machine they used makes it sound incredibly dated even by the time they did Republic and that was only 3 years later.
A DJ mate of mine once discribed it as a casio keyboard demo tune, which isn't far off the mark i think, no wonder best ignored hooky when he told him he was involved in it!

Considering that Blue Monday is now pretty much a karaoke tune with Barney, Hooky, Steve and Phil adding not much on top of it, it's heading down that path itself. I tend to listen more to the earlier live versions these days(82-87)because of the random lyrics, gear and playing cockups and letting the gear go apeshit to finish the gigs. The original 12" will always be a record that will state that Kraftwerk and rock could have babies together and that lead/rhythm guitarists don't always have a monopoly on soul-stirring melodies. Best & Marsh...good b-side fluff, but hey they've done worse filler stuff on Republic.
