Priceless quote (ish):

"why don't you move to chelsea" "if you were a farmer you wouldn't move from fertile plains to barren lands"

I love the man.

Chap from chavin squad's funny :)

Good for him, Anne Robinson has just told him to shut up though!

Look's like he's out!

At least there's was a question about 24HPP and Anne managed to slip in the quote about the Ginga Minga.

Suppose we've just to sit here now and wait for all the wilson haters to come by and slag him. Cunts.

The only thing I've got against Mr Wilson is that he didn't manage to keep the original Factory going.

Then again, I'm sure I couldn't have done so either. I hate myself too.

LOL, yeah we're all wankers cos no mortal could have kept that lot afloat :)

I feel really sorry for Tony, I keep thinking of writing to or emailing his management to say, "we're not all tossers Tony, you were right, they're a shadow of what they used to be, and they bleedin know it" among other things. I'm eternally grateful to the man, he brought me the best thing in my life. Barney seems to be the only member of the band who really hates his guts, I think Hooky tries but can't, and the concept of hatred is beyon Steve and Gillian's odd little brains :)

I'm sure 24hpp heaping ALL the fuckups on him doesn;t help when people come up to him pissed out of their brains and give him grief.

Hey,

Tony is a legend man. he's a well nice guy as well, and whenever i see him we always have a good chat, mainly about man united :thumb:

I wish all the "tony haters" would give the guy a break, cos really they don't even know the guy, and he's actually a really nice guy.

so shush.

I resent that remark BM. It's like saying that all Mun U. fans are wankers, isn't it Jack?

Thanks for that Jack, good to know old Tony has allies. As I said on my Mancunian pilgrimage thread, meeting Tony made up your old boy's fookin plank turning my guts inside out :) Like I said, although Bernard has cold loathing on his face when talking about Tony, yer dad always looks like he's sitting there going "right, not meant to like him, he's the bad guy, yeah, keep that in mind, he's a cunt....but he's TONY, I can't badmouth him....arrrgh fook this, where's me bass"

I really wanted to give him a hug :) I also wanted to smack him for saying "all i did was hang round with the right people". Daft sod, without Factory, even if we'd got to hear JD/NO they'd have been major labelled to death. Barney would have been sent to singing lessons, Hooky would have been told to wise up and play the thing right, and I don't even want to think about what a major would have done in the latter half of 1980. And as I mentioned above, most of what he said would happen to them on a Major, has happened. Thankfully NO's talent is irrepressable so they they still make fabulous music, but one has to wonder about whether certain things that some of us (myself included) find objectionable would have actually happend had they been with a living breathing factory. Autocue, introducing songs, the revolving setlist, the fucking tape player....all of these smell slightly of Major label A+R dept interference. Then again, the paycheck shows up with a little more regularity I bet.

then again, as I've said elsewhere, I blame Tony, factory and NO for the fact I never did bother my hole with the music biz in any serious way. I so PASSIONATELY believe that the factory/NO way of operating is right that the more mundane realities of dirge gigs and sessions with "normal" musicians drove me fucking mental. On the other hand, I'd rather be a no one with my self respect, so I still owe them gratitude for that.

BTW, I actually LIKED The Other Side of Midnight, and most serious thigns he's done on TV...the game shows tho....hmmmmmm.

Piss off Sam. Nobody cares what you think

Tony Wilson, in his own words, was the man who signed the cheque for the Unknown Pleasures cover. Or was it True Faith? Who cares, he signed the cheques for most of the things I liked when I was growing up. Nobody on here has any right to be a "Wilson Hater". If they are, they're just re-hashing old rumours and made-up stories that they've heard from other people.

Tony seems like a decent sort. He likes to hear himself talk but at least he has something to say. Thought he looked near tears during the Hall of Fame Ian Curtis tribute, which was touching.

Do you think we should let the man know? He looks fucking dejected these days.

I've been thinking hard about this, and apart from a common interest in talking hours of endless bollox, what I really love about Tony, when all is said and done, and he shuts the fuck up about bloody marxist experiments in the market place and suchlike, is.... He cares about the music. JD touched him enough to fling his life savings away. And right rhough to the very death of Factory, nothing ever came before the music. No cost, no common sense, nothing, the music was the all powerful, over-riding consideration in everything that factory did.

I joke about them teaching me bad habits, they didn't, they taught me good habits, it's the entire rest of the music business who are wrong.

The look on his face when i walked up to him and the way it changed upong seeing I was friendly made me wonder....do our fellow fans really give him a hard time?

Anyway...I say we draft a letter on behalf of us who have a bit of love in our hearts for the guy and send it to his managment. Just a thank you, something more human than the sleeves for him to look at when he wonders what it was all about.
