Believe it or not, it's one of the only thing Warner Bros Records will have to promote... beside country music and a dance compilation...

So this means New Order have the mighty giant of AOL Time Warner behind them for this :evil4:

And yes, believe it or not, it's their first ever Grammy nomination...

The Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording has been awarded since 1998. In 2003 the award was moved from the "pop" field into a new "dance" field

Warner Brothers is no longer part of AOL. The music division of AOL Time Warner, now known as Warner Music Group (WMG), was sold off in late 2003 for $2.6 billion.

this is getting pretty funny, picking apart which songs do or dont deserve to be nominated....

THIS IS THE GRAMMY'S....it is not about deservedness, nor has it EVER EVER EVER been about deservedness. Im an old fucker...I've been watching, or deliberately NOT watching, this show since the early seventies.....it has no meaning in the world of MUSIC THAT IS ACTUALLY GOOD!

The fact that Guilt got pulled into the foray is a total mystery and more than likely has to do with Wanrners paying off the right person....which in itself would be inexplicable since Krafty or Jetstream would be more likely choices for this sort of show....Guilt hasnt even had the chance to get into the American psyche yet....just goes to show how hokey the Grammy process IS.

C'mon, even the King of Rock'n'Roll didn't get any Grammys in pop music category. He did received only two Grammys and that's in Gospel music category. :shrug:

Quite right. I really couldn't care less if they won a grammy for "The sound of a dog having a turd". The fact is for 25/30 years they have shown the music world the light,and they deserve any bleedin' award thrown at them

I thought you guys new some stuff.... If my memory serves me right, they won a grammy for "best video" with True Faith 1987, and were also nominated in the same category with Regret 1993. And they were robbed blind that time. If there´s any other questions, ask the Oracle.

No, they've never won a Grammy. At least as far as the Grammy.com search engine is concerned, and a few music books I've read. Regret made it onto a lot of charts, and TPK and TF as videos were put on some organization's "Top 100" lists, but no actual award to go with that praise, as of yet.

George Michael did however name NO as one of his fave bands with a fave song and album out they he gave a nod to in an interview with Rolling Stone in 88'; they were "True Faith" and "Substance", respectively.

In 1987 "Land of Confusion" by Genesis won video of the year.

In 1988, it was "Where The Streets Have No Name" by U2.

in 1993, "Digging In The Dirt" from Peter Gabriel won, New Order wasn't nominated. in 1994, Peter Gabriel won again with "Steam", again, New Order was not nominated.

I stand corrected, I was thinking that the "brit awards" was just a pommy name for "grammy awards". Apparently not. Anyway It´s about bloody time they get nominated and win. No band deserves it more.

Totally right... I now live in Orlando, Florida... and I have lost interest in grammy awards for a long time already.. I prefer to listen to BBC 2 radio (on line) than local radio stations... I have to say that uk/european music is FAR better than US. ( well.. english spoken music).. cheers!
