agreed

Nope. Call me pig ignorant but..... In the Qtr Final he benefits from stumblin' bumblin' body check merchants who behave like greyhounds chasing a rabbit 'round a track.

In the Semi he qualifies on the back of a disqualification (like On Omigod Ono in the 1500.....but that was for gold)

In the Final when testosterone was pumpin' thru the veins of every man in lurex on the track, Steve "gee it's good to have made a final" Bradbury coasts over the line as the last lap turned into Nascar ole' fashion demolition derby.....

1980 "Soviets fresh out of puck" was a miracle, but this was three.......

No, but that Australian Institute for Sport instills a win only philosophy in your aussie sports person, winning at any cost. :smoker:

If the introduction of an English Institute of Sport resulted in winning a football World Cup, there would be plenty singing its praises..

 quite witty my little gimpy friend (the lion thing) and whilst i admire your optimist attitude and your patriotism you've got to admit that in all fairness when it comes to football we're not the sharpest tool in the box are we? :(

Seriously, it's almost embarassing.. at each winter games it's the same.. all our "sure things" choke under the pressure...

Our world champion, Jemery Whoterspoon, felt down in the 500m speed skating, it seems that never happened in speed skating before.

Our world champion in snowboard, Jessey Jay Anderson, didn't qualify for the finals..

Our world champion in acrobatic ski jumps didn't quality.. they didn't also in muggles..

Our champions in short track speed skating were disqualified..

And now, at our national sport, Hockey, the team incredibly sucks.. that's almost a shame...!!

What the hell is wrong with us these days :)

(And I won't go into figure skating)

don't worry nic, Gretzky gave a tongue lashing to his team through the press, so now they will go out and realy fall on their face, or just :explode: for all to see

or they could win the whole thing too...congrads to Canada

yeah...Nic the Blanc should be happy...I found myself singing along to O' Canada whilest the Maple Leaf was being hoisted up during the ceremony (oh, look, I slipped a New Order reference in there!!!!) Much easier than our own national anthem...and Joe Nieuwendyk holding his little girl while getting his meadal...that was a lovely touch...

I spend a lot of time in Sunnyvale with work. From there it's just a quick trip along the 101 to San Jose to watch The Sharks. Owen Nolan has become something of a sporting hero to me, so I was glad to see him get a gold medal.

Owen Nolan??? He's Irish...so what the hell is he doing playing for the Canadians??? Oh...wait...Brett Hull is a Canadian...so why was he playing for the US???

It was a great game...even with that has been Richter in goal for the Americans...

And you've heard of Vinnie Jones, right? London footie hard-man now turned Hollywood actor.

He played at International level for...........wait for it........Wales!! (Apparently his Mother once had a day trip to the Rhonnda Valley, thus bestowing citizenship on herself and young Vinnie).
