and I hadn't even heard about it until today...
Astroworld...the amusement park in Houston where I saw New order for the very first time...is no more...
Closed it's doors for the final time in October...and all the bits and pieces are being auctioned off this weekend...
So that leaves exactly one venue that the order have played in Texas that is still standing...
No wonder they won't come here any more...
Well, in Montreal it's now an AMC movie theatre... so I wonder what's better

First Avenue in Minneapolis has opened and closed repeatedly in 2004-5 and has just reopened. Usual financial problems and urban gang idiots moving in to downtown Minneapolis is part of the reason plus financial problems of the partners who run it. Sort of like the late-lamented Hacienda.
Remember seeing NO playing there in 83' or 84'.
Saw NO at preston guild hall (england) in 1985, unfortunately that shit hole is still standing, what a fucking eye saw.
damn !st Ave having problems??? I saw so many bands there. Bset band I saw there was Meat Beat Manifesto. Second best were The Cramps. Never saw New Order there.

First Avenue has since reopened and it is that old cheesy ex-Greyhound depot yet. Saw them running ads for local acts.
Seen NO, Cabaret Voltaire, Residents and Section 25 there over the years. OMD played across town at an old place I think called the Cabooze or something. That got burnt down and demolished.
Last time NO was through town was in '89 with P.I.L., Sugarcubes....bad seating and sh*tty sound in St. Paul Civic Center (they were in their stadium period then).
Probably never see NO again through here.....
