Yep, the trains were the last straw. That and the 20 min JD set.

I wouldn't travel 17 hour round trip to watch 90 minutes of football, so 20 minutes of JD parody really ain't gonna captivate me.

I believe that under current NOOL regulations, that makes you....

  1. a weirdo and
  2. a very poor N O fan.

Mr Old Monkey,

As a Manc 20 minutes away from the MEN Arena, as somebody who has a lot to be thankful for Christies (twice), and as somebody who had to enter a Granada Reports phone competition to try and get a ticket (last week), then if a free ticket is going spare then I can think of one lucky person who would be extremely happy to relieve you. Of you spare ticket. ME!

I'm still waiting to hear from Granada...

It's not free. Never has been except to Steve Campbell, who will be contributing a lot to the NOOL day.

Which, in essence, is what you'll be hoping people actually do for NOOL Day though, surely?! Make a long round-trip to see NO/JD parodies? Although you and Re-order would obviously do more than the desultory 20mins.

LOL a fair point there Mr Jarvis.

Tho the real plan is a chance for all of us to hang without the inconvenience of the greatest band on earth playing and causig the party to get all broke up :D

(and there wont be any wanky bands on either :D)

Subtle difference being that ourselves and Re: Order take a pride in the performance, rehearse the songs and generally play them properly......

So, effectively, people should come and see you and Re-order because you're actually ... 'better' than the real thing? :skeptic:

Not at all. Your words not mine!

Were it an ordinary trip up to Manchester to see the band, even if it were just 20 minutes, I'd be there like a shot. South Eastern trains cancelling all services, meaning it will take me nearly 3 hours to even get to London via a fleet of replacement buses, means that it's not viable. I have to be back in Kent for 9am Sunday morning in any case, and to be honest I'm better off just writing off the ticket cost to charity and not trying to do the improbable.

Not quite, sir. Your words were "ourselves and Re: Order take a pride in the performance, rehearse the songs and generally play them properly......"

Implying, surely, that New Order do not take a pride in their performance, do not rehearse songs, and generally don't play said songs properly.

Or did I misread something?!

You were salivating after the QEH just as much as the rest of us. And you know it!

I didn't say we were better than NO though!

The salivation was down to the bag of Nobby's Nuts consumed in the pub ;)

Well, he's Peter Hook's son, we know that. We also know that he goes by Jack Bates, having taken his mother's surname. Not sure what else you mean, but if you are insinuating that Jack is an imposter, you are wrong!
