I think it's time for a "proper" tribute album to new order. there have been mumerous fan only ones - anyone remember the weird but ultimately disappointing german and japanese ones? I'm talking about an album, like the depeche mode tribute (the cure, meat beat manifesto et al), that features established artists (not rammstein tho) especially those influenced by t'order. I'm thinking you could persuade orbital out of retirement; mylo doing true faith, the killers doing crystal - for real. What d'yer reckon? any suggestions for other high profile bands. I reckon NOOL could make this happen

The only tribute album that I've liked is the recent all female tribute to Crowded House. As a big DM fan I thought that The Cure and Pumpkins tribute songs were very weak and didn't add anything new. I think NO songs are very hard to reinterpret, because they usually have such a weird mix of things happening - I usually struggle to put my finger on the exact things that make me like a NO song, which is the way I like it.

It can be done, sure, but you'd need money or being backed by a major label to do this...

Believe me, I tried to reach a few artists, and I did manage to reach a few, and they were all too busy or recording a new album...

But the biggest part would be money, nobody is willing to do this for free obviously as they have fees, like studio fees and other things to pay... so basically, do to a proper tribute album, I'm pretty confident you would need 25 000$ to 50 000$ to produce it.

We're very far from "Community" budget at this point...

Personally, I would contact U2, The Arcade Fire, Doves, Interpol, Moby, Billy Corgan, The Killers and a few others, it would be indeed time for a real proper New Order tribute album done by big names of the industry.. it has never been done....

Interpol "don't do" covers. :/ U2 and the Killers can eat a bag of dicks.

Bloody cheek. Community is by far better than anything set up by some suit and populated with sad act pop stars desperate for a bit of kudos by wrecking a NO song.

Offended of Bangor.

BIS! Are they still going? They did fab versions of LWTUA and ACR's "Shack Up".

I think they got back together a couple of years ago under a different name. Don't ask me what they're called now, though, because I can't remember.
