Hello,

New to this site. Heard that there was another album coming out this year, if that is correct, are NO going to be touring in the US?

I ask because I am a US Marine and I am constantly being deployed. I have tried to see their shows in CA, but I always seem to miss them (I was in Iraq when they were in CA last year). The time before that in '93, broke up with a girlfriend and she took the tickets!!! I have yet a chance to see them live, and being my favorite band, it really is a downer.

Thanks for any info. Been a fan since I "borrowed" my sister's Substance tape and never returned it to her when I was 12.

Oh looking for dates so I know when to push to get back from a deployment or procrastinate on leaving for one (not that I get much choice anyways).

Thanks.

Spotnick. perhaps we should have the following on the front page. "No dates have yet been confirmed for any new New Order tours, or record releases."

I understand that nothing is posted or definate, I was wondering if there was any talk through the grapevine regarding this. Thanks.

perhaps i shouldn't have been quite so flippant. yes there is a new album on its way, perhaps even two if we count the closer soundtrack. so far no new new order gigs have been confirmed. my guess is that it won't happen before the norhtern summer. no i don't know when they'll next tour the USA. I want them to come her next. they may just decide to do the odd gig here or there. as always you'll read it here first, or perhaps on wim.

unconfirmed rumours of a few festivals. there's a thread somewhere. i think it may be in the ceremony forum, or further down in this one.

Thanks, I figure when the album comes out there will more than likely be concerts to promote it. At least it gives me a window, as I will probably be leaving for Iraq in Sep and not returning until Feb (with my luck that's when they will tour). Thanks, I keep an eye on the site for any updates.

Could have sworn it was a San Diego show, but don't see it in the tours lineup. I assume it must have been the LA show, but I notice that it says that there were two encores. However, I remember my ex telling me that the show was shortened and only lasted 30 minutes because one of the band members (I think it was Hooke) was angery at the crowd, I think because some idiots were moshing.

They allegedly had 8 tracks for the new album, although how finished these tracks are remains a mystery... "Control" will apparently feature new tracks (which could involve the 8 tracks mentioned before?) and re-recordings of old Joy Division tracks, according to recent news stories (including NME, being as quick as ever off the mark!)

In addition, Hooky's working with Mani and Andy Rourke on his Freebass project (although when that will see the light of day, who knows, as they never played a live set at the recent MCr vs Cancer gig)!

And, Steve and Gillian are/have finished working on a soundtrack to the TV series, "Cracker" (was being filmed late last year in Manchester).

As for tours, who knows, all we have are a couple of rumours for UK festivals this year, and a couple of possible non-UK dates - all of which may, or may not, happen...

Obviously, without any official confirmation on any of the above, you now know as much as we do! :)

Thanks for that info. Wouldn't it be great to see a full concert of NO doing JD? Crossing fingers I'm here able to see the concert when and if they do come. Thanks.

I was able to see NO in Oakland, CA last year. I was given the heads up on NO Online. It was a great wedding Aniv gift for the wife and I.

NO in Los Angles in 1993 would have been at the Hollywood Bowl. I don't remember this concert at all. Both nights at the Universal Amp (1989) were great. I still have some pins, buttons and a poster for this concert. I also remember the Irvine Meadows (Sugarcubes and P.I.L.).

We did at the MEN Arena, was a good laugh down the front, but Barney's voice can't live up to Ian's.

No it wouldn't be good to see NO do a full set as JD - it's like seeing "The Doors Of The 21st Century". A nostalgia act.

New Order did do a full JD set for John Peel Day.

I think the "Doors" analogy would work only if they added another singer to "play Ian" which they didn't do.
