JD mention in American Psycho

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but in the new Director's Cut version of "American Psycho", there's a bonus documentary which talks about New York club life in the 80's. One of the persons giving an interview claims to have seen Joy Division at a place called The Garage.

Obviously it wasn't Joy Division, but it makes me wonder which gig as it was as New Order, or if he was just making it up.

Bret Easton Ellis is a fan...the music is also featured in the movie as well. There are NO references in his books. BTW...his latest...Lunar Park is fantastic (I'm about 2/3 of the way through it) and its likely the best thing he's done since Less than Zero.

He's probably talking about New Order's performance at the Paradise Garage, 7 July 1983.

lunar park is a brilliant return to form for BEE. first 100 pages especially. the rules of attraction has many new order references (and smiths, REM etc)

going to smoke that out. thanks Re-Member . perhaps one the best jobs done with putting a bizarre print-book cleanly onto film. brilliant, straight faced-and- laced 'till the end.

The movie itself was kind of a letdown compared to the book, in my opinion. The book went in great lengths about the narrator/main character (can't remember his name) and his obsession with fashion and other tidbits which drew an interesting character synapse which the film neglected- instead focusing on the action/killings.

I need to read Lunar Park.

the movie was released at Sundance 2000. the interviews given for it at the time were grand. that so much extreme violence could be executed so causually. thought that the film excelled in showingWASP -y killer Patrick Bateman- randomly get his kicks out on a poor sod/ or with a beautiful miss that was just plain unlucky to be around.

Re-order on the soundtrack lists New Order - True Faith and Cure - Watching me Fall. that Patrick Bateman was said to be disgusted by everything less than ideal, even only having time for the best and that Joy Division is mentioned as choice -is class.

oh- film-wise- didn't pay much attention except to the common disgust theme and- the nice stylized shots of-Christian Bale etc. -in it all.
