Hooky and Steve played it on 6Music yesterday, and it's as yet unreleased. I reckon he should put it forward for Community 2...

Didn't see the appeal. Reminded me a bit of the 'Born Free' song with Daktari jungle music in the background.

Some competition for This fella

Nice, but I still can never bring myself to genuinely like cover versions...

Musically, it's alright, but his vocal is way too OTT ain't it?!

Sorry - can't see the point in this :nono:

not much if anything , really , can stand tall next to first recordings or live shots, lover-ly Peel sessions etc., but do like hearing what's getting done. :thumb:

I just don't know what to think of it. But the original is my favourite song of all time.

Paul Haig? Christ is he still around? Got a 12" single of his from early '80s called "Heaven Sent".Good tune at the time.

I'll ask around, but I doubt it will lead to anything... I mean, it must be for a release or something.

Did I just see a post comparing Paul Haig to the Mike Flower Pops? Paul's voice is unique and I think it works really well with that track.

Thanks for posting the link.

I recommend that those who have never heard Paul's work before go here and order the 'Warp of Pure Fun' CD.

You may notice a few familiar names who worked with Paul at the time. For those who like their guitars a bit more jangly, just listen to anything by Josef K.

I got a reply...

Thank you for your email,Paul has forwarded it to me. My name is Derek Miller and I was responsible for putting the cover together. At this stage, the song played by Peter hook is a demo, would you believe. No-one was more surprised than me when he played it,trust me! I recorded all the music @ Finiflex in Edinburgh, then approached Paul to do the vocal, which he kindly agreed to do. The demo was then passed about to see what people thought & the reaction so far has been excellent, generating a lot of interest. We are hoping to get an official release with mixes.

It's long since dead but this version should never have got out. It is no more than a demo that has changed quite radically since.

Paul Haig was a 'guest' vocalist, no more than that.

I was never happy with how it sounded but Pauls manager got it to New Order's management and the damage was done.

There's nobody more critical of it than me.

It has been re-worked a few times and the new mixes may see the light of day yet. Who knows?

It was a four year old link, numbnuts.

Anyway, it works again now.

This release is taking more time than a New Order album indeed :abovelol:

Anyway, cheers Clive.
