It seems that he wants to tour next year and Barney wants to finish the demos from the WFTSC sessions which apparently only need tweeking in the studio to finsh them. Seems like theres an argument again...

I guess it comes down to a choice between another record with possibly fantastic new tunes or them belting out Atmosphere or Blue Monday for the gazillionth time?
Hmmmm, that's a tough one! 
If the new material only requires a bit of tweaking here and there I don't see why they can't finish it while at the same time booking up a couple of gigs for the end of the summer. That way everyone wins, we get a new record as well as a raft of new tunes added to the live set 
Personally, I really hope Barney get's his way.

Aye but come on Al, we obviously love the gigs but with all the recent Joy Division nostalgia wouldn't it be a bit of a thrill to see them playing new New Order material? They should take a risk and invest some confidence in the new material rather then relying banging out Regret or LWTUA, stuff they know will be well received no matter what.
From what the the guy reported the new record sounds practically finished bar a bit of studio work. It'd be a bit of a waste leaving new material rotting away while we get the oldies blasted out and we all know they generally never play anything that isn't released.
That's just me tho, the gigs are great but hearing new material is special too.
New Order are playing a ton of unreleased stuff at the moment. Well, covers of another band, anyway.

Who's the guy reporting?! This isn't quite the story I heard.
Given that time is of a premium these days, I'd rather have gigs than records but getting out and going to gigs is just my thang, I guess.

I go for the option that I'd rather they play live more before they decide to give up as a band...
Why not just go back to the old days and play the songs live and "tweak" them as they evolve from live performances.

C'mon Nick. We all know it's because you're dreading another album full of international variants, remixes, promos, multiple formats and exclusive CD-Rs that'll end up with your car being repossessed.

My idea is better than hookys or barneys. Learn some old songs, go on a proper tour and belt them out. Much easier than writing new songs!
FYI - Phil Cunningham on his 06 plans. He's doing some more MARION stuff you see. Sounds like a less intensive year for New Order based on his words here. And it looks like he was going to let the cat out of the bag and then he pulled back at the very last...

A:Yeah, yeah, and that's one of the reasons for doing this low key gig down in Bath really. It's friend of mine who's got a night on, really it's just like a pub, and that's how we started off, me and Jaime, playing in pubs in Cloud and Push The King, so it's just revisiting that. We're just gonna take it from there, really. My year with New Order is pretty, sort of, um... last year we worked pretty hard, we had a lot on, but this year is a little bit more chilled. I'm just gonna get together with Jaime and see what happens with the Marion thing really. We are gonna come up with a different name as well, we're just keeping it as Marion for this first gig really, until we basically can come up a different name really.

well i'd like that too, but a living band has to have new material at regular intervals. then there will be some tours to promote the new songs. and frankly they will probably sell more copies of the new album, than of their entire back catalogue.
come off it - its the order - since when have they delivered an album when they said they would?! 
bet you we don't see it this year
how about if they rerecord their favorite Joy Division songs with Barney singing with female background singers, release this as the new album and movie soundtrack ?... this compromise should cover all bases and make everybody happy

Pretty sort of...what? Over? Does this mean Gillian will be back on the new album? Do we dare to dream - not that I don't appreciate what Phil added - certainly live anyway
