Here to stay. Finally got the proper quality full length version. I'm thinking it's a bit of a stormer, not quite as good as Crystal but possibly the second best thing of recent times. some nice electronic shenanagins, better produced than Getready. Hope this means a big kiss goodbye to Osbourne. I can hear about 10 nicer sounds than my conveniant scape goat managed to summon up on Getready.

So come on everyone do we love it:thumb: or not? I expect all those in semi-retirement to play along on this one no exceptions (Shug get down to an internet cafe or something)

Definitely diggin' it. I almost burned it onto a CD by itself so I could listen to it properly on the stereo and in the car. NO should do more with the chem bros. That would be a :thumb:

I tried snailing it to ya twice yesterday Steve but your server was having none of it, sorry!

You're missing nothing anyway, it's pish!

IMHO, it's better than Crystal, not better than Turn My Way... but since it's an upbeat track, I can't really compare both...

So it's a must, but of course, it's not the type of song a Joy Division fan would like... (meaning, first hour fans)

To be honest I still prefer the fake one.

No, no... Only joking. :D

I really loved the song, it´s better than 90% of "Get Ready" and I've been listening to it over and over since yesterday. Thumbs up!

It is indeed a stormer, on par with Turn My Way in terms of quality (but sounds nothing like it, obviously). Can't really compare it with anything else, but I'm glad the Chems restrained themselves from their usual "What does this button do?" shenanigans. I disagree about the Osbourne bashing though - what exactly is wrong with the production on GR? It's light years better than the polished, slick gunk that Hague poured over Republic! Md

I managed to get the Radio Edit today in full quality (without any glitches!) and I must say, I prefer the edit, it's quite catchy and perfect for radio...

Just like "this time I'm not wrong", this song is better with some bits cut and with the final chorus missing from the original version...!

Seeing how good the Chemical Brothers managed to produce their heros, I'm now a little pissed that Moby didn't find time to do something with them.. maybe it's the next thing on the list beside the New Dawn Fades we'll get with 24 Hour Party People.

Now I'm curious to see the video!

I would have thought the release of a very good new single warranted more debate.

Sorry matey, don't imagine everyones heard it yet - I only got to listen to (most of) the song when I caught it on MTV Dance last night. Loved what I heard - it's what the Order are all about - in a way it's a shame it didn't get on GR - would have made a good album great, but on the other hand, quite like the fact its a single only as well...

I posted this on a different thread last Saturday but seeing as it's relevant to this topic & I can't be arsed writing it again in a slightly different format.......

'Heard it for the first time on radio this morning. Been listening out for it on XFM for a few weeks now & they've finally delivered.

In a mad frenzy, managed to turn my spare room upside down & find a casette, threw it into the machine & captured about the last 60 secs. Been goin' play. Rewind. Play. Rewind. For the last 2 hours.

Needless to say, it's sooperb.

Aside from the Were-here-to-stay refrain, lyrics I got....

Like a bright light on the horizon Shining so bright, he'll get you flying He'll get you flying, he'll get you flying He'll get you flying, flying, flying.

The track itself is very commercial, with the keyboards high in the mix, more so than anything on GR, with Hooky's bass still in there. It's probably the first track I've heard them do since Gillian left where I can't actually tell she's missing. It's reminiscent of the Technique era IMHO & I just hope they play it at Finsbree. Fuelled by a major lager sesh, this ones gonna be great to jump up & down to in the open air of Norf Larndan.

Be interested in everyone elses views as they get to hear it.'

Lets have a heated debate...

I've taken the chill pills. Rivals.net is down and I can't get my pre match fix, I apologise. So Alan does it pass muster with you?

Have had it on repeat since the weekend and it's driving the Mrs insane.

Love it, but think it's a little overcomplicated in places. Not convinced by the opening bars or by the instrumental break around 2mins30secs. Sounds like they're going "Let's try this for 5 seconds," then, "Let's try that for 5 seconds". Doesn't really give you chance to get your teeth into anything concrete. Shame the opening vocals don't come in any stronger too - what is this blue-eyed boy shite? Think the "Here To Stay" line on the run-out is tops. mind.. .

Quote from Mr P. Hook.

"If anything, doing the track with the Chemical Brothers has opened the next chapter for New Order, which is a great thing."

Let's hope so.

The answer is no, somebody bought a promo and sent me the mp3...! I should have my own promo anytime soon if someone at the label is efficient and don't vanish for no reason like always...

I did myself a "Get Ready v2.0" which features..

  1. Here To Stay (Radio Edit)
  2. Crystal (Radio Edit)
  3. 60 Miles An Hour (Radio Edit)
  4. Brutal
  5. Turn My Way
  6. Vicious Streak
  7. Primitive Notion
  8. Slow Jam
  9. Rock The Shack
  10. Someone Like You
  11. Close Range
  12. Player In The League
  13. Behind Closed Doors
  14. Sabotage
  15. Run Wild

And I must say, that makes a much more better album than the original.. I like the radio edit they did, Crystal is better without that intro, and seriously, switching from Here To Stay to Crystal in that matter is #1, just as is 60MPH to Brutal..

In other words, it rocks.. Here To Stay is a great album opener.

P/S: That makes a 74 mins CD, the way Get Ready should have been! :)

Good idea Nic, but that 60mph radio edit is a shocker - ruins the song for me

I also burned an enhanced version of Get Ready. It goes like this:

  1. Crystal (advance promo version, with the bass solo around the 5th minute. The first note of the intro is partly missing on the advance promo CD, so I had to cut & paste it from the official release in Sound Forge.)
  2. 60 miles an hour
  3. Turn my way
  4. Player in the league
  5. Vicious streak
  6. Here to stay (the audiogalaxy one, since I don't have the radio edit yet...)
  7. Brutal
  8. Primitive notion
  9. Slow jam (advance promo version: a little longer than the official release version)
  10. Behind closed doors
  11. Rock the shack
  12. Someone like you (advance promo version: alternate lyrics in chorus 2 and bass solo at the end)
  13. Close range
  14. Sabotage
  15. Run wild (advance promo version)

I really spent much time on deciding the best order for the songs (and the best versions). I think I managed to compose something really good.

Do you think that, if "Here To Stay" does well saleswise, their record company might cash-in/wise up and reissue Get Ready in a new package including this song and "Player In The League" for example? What's the likelihood? Anyone?
