Not only does my partner have no objection to my NO/JD obsession, she actually recognises and likes several songs (not meant to sound patronising, honest).
As if that wasn't enough, she secretly tracked down a set of these cards.....and there's my birthday present.
AND we're going to Florence for 4 days next week! Florence, Italy that is. Is it true there are at least 8 places named Florence in the US? H

I've got my next book almost done and another on the backburner... had many an article published but breaking into the book world seems a damn site harder!

You need an agent, Craig. In truth, it's the only way in. I naively sent my novel to dozens of publishers who basically just said they wouldn't read it. However, a certain (very well known) publishing house called me in, got me to rewrite my novel, then got a new head editor, who wanted me to rewrite it in another direction. And then got another new editor in who simply didn't want to use my work. C'est la vie. This was over an 18-month period. Then I got myself an agent 'proper' and she'd sold my work within weeks, with a contract signed and sealed at Pan MacMillan. Have let it all slide somewhat though so need to pull my finger out again. I'm on the hunt for a new agent now, hence the WWW presence. Beats writing a billion letters to all and sundry asking for representation.
Keeping plugging away, mate.

We've both been engaged/married to other people in the past and after 17 years together can't really be bothered to make it formal.
To put my - as I think of it - good fortune in perspective, I "allowed" Chrissie to have 2 weeks holiday in Libya recently to observe the eclipse!
We're happy together and apart. Mobile phones/email and love will keep us together (groan, sorry).
