Was New Order ever commercial at one point in time? What do you all say?

Does commerciality mean success or success mean commerciality?

Not by any design, but almost in spite of their efforts to be uncommercial and "unprofessional", I think NO have managed to make the most simple but important point - that the music can stand up by itself without promotion, without (many) interviews or hyperbole. The fact that their naive ideals about music standing alone without the usual record company plugging and traditional commercial support (combined with the fact that they're lazy bastards and terrible businesmen) makes them the legends they are in my opinion. World in Motion was a terrible song and is a blip in their career and thats all I've got to say about that. cheers, UA

einsturzende neubaten did a jordache jeans advert once. i'm fucking serious, it is on the second strategies against architecture comp. it also contains a nancy sinatra cover.

i'm waiting for the day when NO consents to having "she's lost control" in an advert for depends adult diapers.

1993 was about as commercial as they got, nowadays they are as commercial as a leper in an oil of ulay ad.

Only if the said leper relied on London Records for promotion.

Did not know that, but then I haven't picked up the second strategies set as of yet. I do have the Yu-Gung EP, from which Sand originally came from.

Re: Nancy Sinatra cover...do you know what song it was and who it was by, by any chance? :)

:cool2: :cool2:

That song would be Sand

"Young woman shared her fire with me....now warms herself in memories" indeed!

hi,

I posted earlier today that NewOrder and/or Peter Hook is featured in a Saab commercial with the background music.

The sound is pure NewOrder, the question is...Is it them?

the video for jordache his really funny actaully it wasnt an advert it was a cover of sorts of an ad in which the words jeans is bleeped out

has anyone heard the new stragities vol3 yet?

i think they had to bleep out the name of whatever shopping complex they were talking about for legal reasons. it's always funny to hear german people saying the word "jeans"
